U.S. forces advance to within 30 km of Baghdad
Alert.net/Luke Baker: A military source told a Reuters correspondent with the 3rd Infantry that vanguard units were just 30 km from the southern edges of the capital of some five million people (..) Some troops had crossed to the east bank of the Euphrates, bridging the main natural obstacle on their route to Baghdad. Forces heading up the Tigris valley from the southeast were as close as 40 km (25 miles) to the city, the source said. "The dagger is clearly pointed at the heart of the Baghdad regime," U.S. Brigadier General Vincent Brooks said. Posted By Oskar van Rijswijk at April 2, 2003 12:56 PM | TrackBackComments
Wonder how the European press is going to spin this ? I know... "Eager to surrender, Coalition forces race to Baghdad, destroying everthing in their path" They are finding and fixing the enemy. There is still not the proper force to actually enter Bagdhad, look for that in a couple of weeks. So much for the hype of the Iraqis committed to using chemical weapons at the red line.
