Bodies found where POW Lynch rescued
Fox News television is reporting that the special forces who rescued POW PFC Jessica Lynch from a hospital in Nasariya also found the bodies of two other US soldiers. Update: according to the Fox News crawl, PFC Lynch had two broken legs and one broken arm, but is currently in stable condition. Clarification: PFC Jessica Lynch was one of the POWs captured over a week ago from the supply convoy which took a wrong turn. Posted By Robin Goodfellow at April 2, 2003 02:20 AM | TrackBackComments
Bastards. Posted by: Reid at April 2, 2003 02:21 AMGrrrrrrrrrr Posted by: mike lawson at April 2, 2003 03:29 AMIts nothing that they don't do to their own people. Yeah, I can see why the "peace activists" love them! Maybe we can give free tickets to human shields. I could suggest some appropriate sites for them to protect! And it would probably actual improve the peace! Posted by: Chris Hamilton at April 2, 2003 05:15 AMOh, Jesus... broken legs and arm, and I can't imagine what else, to a woman US soldier as a prisoner of that regime (shudder). I will pray that God helps you heal, Pvc Lynch. Posted by: Kathleen at April 2, 2003 07:51 AMI remember an interview with a female pilot captured in Gulf War 1. The interviewer tactfully brought up the issue of rape as a concern for female combatants. And the interviewee said candidly, "Women aren't the only POWs that need to worry about that." "Oh, Jesus... broken legs and arm, and I can't imagine what else, to a woman US soldier as a prisoner of that regime (shudder)." "Women aren't the only POWs that need to worry about that." Esactly, male POW's have been raped as well. It is not gender specific at all. "Its nothing that they don't do to their own people." Are you saying US soldiers haven't killed POW's? That would be wrong. We should be angry but this happens on all sides in all wars. Posted by: Kansas at April 3, 2003 06:13 PMI was totally against the war and this is the reason. We are putting our sons and daughters in terrible harm's way in a civil war to protect people that have lied to us and helped Saddam. I have only seen people vowing their 'blood and lives' to Saddam, in the streets, getting the food we are delivering. Is Saddam evil??? YES, he is, but so are the people that allowed him to be reelected and did nothing to kill him and his evil themselves. If they want him, then they should have him. It is their country..not ours...And if he IS the person behind 9/11 and the US has to take him out...then do that.. but not in the name of protecting the people and causing our country to go bankrupt rebuilding Iraq. IF sommeone elects and keeps in power, a murderer...then they should not be ptoected. If we have to get rid of a murdering tyrant, then the people that put and kept him in power should suffer and get the message that we can and will destroy the area and people behind him...We rebuilt France..We helped rebuild Korea, Germany and Japan...and then the goverment was turned back over, for the most part, to people that are enemies to the United States...If we bankrupt the United States to control who sits in goverment in Iraq...and this plan of war and rebuilding just may... Should you encounter any deranged anti-war protesters, or subscribers to Aljazeera, who are convinced that the US is losing the war in Iraq, just remind them of the score so far. Total Iraqi troops killed in combat: 105,000 The reason for that score is that we have people like PFC Jessica Lynch (US Army) on our side, who single-handedly shot and killed four Iraqis before being captured. PFC Lynch was tortured and starved for nine days, and was beaten so savagely that her back, both legs, an ankle and an arm were broken; and her Iraqi captors continued to abuse her while she lie paralyzed and helpless. Still she endured, and the price the Iraqis paid for what they did was their lives at the hands of US Navy SEALs and Army Rangers who rescued her. She is expected to make a full recovery and is in good spirits, ordering her favorite foods from her hospital bed at a US Air Force base in Germany. And PFC Lynch is just a nineteen-year-old recent high school graduate from West Virginia who was voted "Miss Congeniality" in her small town's beauty pageant, and who was assigned to an Army maintenance company. The Iraqi republican guard doesn't have a prayer! Posted by: Dr. Gonzo, Esq. at April 5, 2003 11:09 PMPFC Lynch, She did a great and honorable thing while serving on duty for her country. As an 18 year old Private Second Class I can only look up to her and wish that in a situation like that I can be just as strong. Everyone talks about the war and have no support in it. This I do not understand! My fellow Comrads and I are in the this war and involved in every little attack. If you will not support the President then support the soldiers. The Army is one Family so any attack on an American Soldier is seeing your brother or in this case sister fall. I hope everyone that disagrees with this war can pull their head out long enough to realize that we are in it and there is no coming back so get with your church or girl scouts. Make up some care packages send them off. And then sit in front of your TV at night and pray for everyone that is fighting and protecting the way you live! If you still cant see the big picture then look at from a soldiers perception! I just want to say how very proud i am of PFC Lynch for her courage and patriotism. I want all of our servicemembers who are deployed to know how grateful and proud the American people are of all your efforts. I do not think a minute goes by that you are not in everyone's thoughts and prayers. You are why America is the great country it is. I hope that our military members do not let those who are against the war bring them down. Be it known they are a small number not amounting to much of an opinion. We must show understanding towards them because it is their lack of knowledge, and for some, their need for attention that makes them act the way they do. Posted by: lucas at April 6, 2003 12:14 PMYou are right, Lucas, and I'm sorry for lashing out like that, but it is just so frustrating when these people put down our country and our troops without even taking the time to check their facts. I'm not apologizing for what I said, just the way I said it. ;o) "Don't confuse me with the facts! I've already made up my mind!" Dear Wanda... InN response to your comment about how the Iraqi people deserve Saddam because they keep electing him to be thier president...Please! To my knowledge, Iraq has not held an election since at least the 1950's! And for all I know, they may NEVER have had an election. The way all the leaders in the past 50 years have gained power in Iraq is by assasination of the current leader and/or military coups! Whoever has the biggest army, gets to be leader! Saddam was a low level government official in the 60's, serving the existing regime. He wormed his way up the chain of command through assasinations and expulsion of those who stood in his way. He's not even a real General! In 1979 When he was second in command, he forced the existing "president" to step down, probably under threat of death. Saddam was running the country from the behind the scenes for years anyway. So, the people of Iraq did not CHOOSE him to be their president. And if they speak against Saddam, or complain, or protest, or do anything against him, they are tortured and killed. They are made to be an example of what happens when you are a dissedent. The people of Iraq suffer in poverty and disease while Saddam lives in huge mansions with servants and fine foods and all the luxories of the good life. Instead of Saddam trying to help his people, he prefers to keep them poor and uneducated, because the chances of anyone getting the opportunity to take him out by assasination or military coup is lessened. It's a survival of the fittest country. Our country might just be the only country powerful enough to liberate those people from the dictator tyrant. And Saddam has long hated the United States. I have no doubt that he might have been so obsessed with destroying our country, that he could very well have been biding his time until he had accumulated the weapons he needed to accomplish that goal. No offense meant to you personally Wanda, but I have to comment that most of the reasons I hear for being opposed to the this war are based not on fact, but on incorrect assumptions and one or two facts mixed with incorrect information. I am amazed at how people can take such a strong position on a topic that they really know very little about, or have any real facts. And they don't try to learn anything or do any research. I am very curious to know how you made your decision to oppse the war Wanda. What did you base it on? Can you tell me? Thanks. I believe PFC Jessic Lynch should be the first woman to recieve the Congressional Medal of Honor. She is the embodiment of all American men and women serving in the military and performed in the tradition of Sgt. York WWI and Audie Murphy WWII. God Bless her and her contribution to American pride. Posted by: R. Short at April 8, 2003 12:42 PMPFC Jessica Lynch should not be receiving free scholarships to colleges. She signed up for active duty realizing the risks involved. What about all the other past POW's that have been rescued? The horror and torture that they too suffered? Is that fair to them? I think not. I agree that PFC Lynch should not get a full scholarship because of her circumstances. I'm elated that she was rescued and heartbroken for the families those who were were not or still remain missing. I think all Americans should be able to go to college. College educations are becoming more and more out of reach for so many Americans. I have been paying my student loans for the last 7 years and still owe almost the original amount. What's funny..is that..I pay my loan to the federal govt. Keep up the good work America's armed forces. Thank you for giving me the right to post this message, live where I choose and support whatever causes I wish. Please stay safe and come home soon!!
