POW/MIA Jessica Lynch Rescued
As noted earlier, the AP announced that CENTCOM had good news: a POW is free from Saddam's government! Well, moments ago, CENTCOM confirmed this, but so far has provided no new details. However, FOXNews Channel now reports: PFC Jessica Lynch, listed as MIA, has been rescued near Naseriah by combined Navy Seal / Army Ranger operation.
Father in tears of joy, according to a Fox correspondent who spoke with PFC Lynch's family. No word has been given so far of the fate of the other POWs, nor of the details of the rescure operation. Comments
OUTSTANDING Those bastards better not have harmed her. Posted by: Cowboy Bob at April 1, 2003 07:44 PMGreat news! Posted by: Dave at April 1, 2003 07:45 PMGreat news..but I hate to think of what Saddams freakos will try to do to take the wind out of our sails... Posted by: JackRyan at April 1, 2003 07:46 PMFox reporting intelligence gathered from scene including the building and room from a doctor. That's good, but bad. Now all other doctors will be under suspicion, and other doctors may not be allowed to see other POWs. They shouldn't have released that info. Posted by: BobbyV at April 1, 2003 07:46 PMHere's a link to one story on this "Impossible" is not a Ranger word. Such good news bring me to tears. Posted by: Avary at April 1, 2003 07:46 PMTHANK GOD !!! Fantastic! Posted by: Patrick Grote at April 1, 2003 07:52 PMGreat news. Women don't belong in combat units like the 4th ID, though. Posted by: sullivan-fan at April 1, 2003 08:00 PMWoohoo! Way to go Seals and Rangers! Posted by: Jay Solo at April 1, 2003 08:03 PMPrayers are answered - in the form of Ranger/Seal rescue teams! Fox News: Rescue, happened 4 hours ago. She was in a hospital. Small circle of people knew about operation, Fox held story for Operational security. They were waiting for familiy to notified. Story was leaked. Posted by: ElCapitanAmerica at April 1, 2003 08:13 PMSeals, Rangers = American Ninjas! Posted by: Avary at April 1, 2003 08:20 PMIt's good to have friends. It's GREAT to have friends who are SEALS. Welcome home Jess. Posted by: Dave at April 1, 2003 08:21 PMIf that is true about FOX witholding, I respect the prudence. Posted by: SondraK at April 1, 2003 08:26 PM I would suspect that the rest aren't too far away, it's not like Iraqi military travel is particularly easy these days. heh..cool... "Great news. Women don't belong in combat units like the 4th ID, though. " Women are doing a great job in combat. It is interesting that at the time of the rescue the media was reporting heavy fighting in Naseriah. I suspect that the main units distracted the forces in town, paving the way for the rangers to safely get into the hospital. The Seals... oh, they were probably orderlies and janitors in the hospital, and killed the guards just before the choppers came in. Posted by: John Moore (Useful Fools at April 1, 2003 08:43 PMYAY!!!!!!!!!!!!! Posted by: Steve at April 1, 2003 08:44 PMNike and sullivan-fan: She's 3rd Infantry, not 4th (just to nitpick), and...where's Phil Carter's article on women in combat units? I'd love to see it as this is a topic of great interest to me. I'm holding off on kudos to Fox News. Rita Cosby told Smith on the air that we got information on her location from a doctor that was treating her. Unless that doctor has been extracted, his life expectancy is very, very short. Posted by: sullivan-fan at April 1, 2003 09:14 PMHey, thanks, Toby! I see I should generally be reading Phil's "Intel Dump" more often. Phil Carter, meet my blogroll. Yeah, he's good. Posted by: Toby at April 1, 2003 10:51 PMWhat a beautiful girl, how come she wasn't raped and tortured???? What, does that mean that when the Marines capture, wound in the action, a beautiful Iraqi girl that they would deliberately rape and torture her, don't judge the Iraqis by yourselves folks Posted by: Prince Rufus at April 2, 2003 02:15 AMYeah, she's cute all right. My wife didn't like to hear that :D Posted by: Shawn Pickrell at April 2, 2003 05:56 AMHer dad said she didn't suffer from gun shot or stab wounds. How did she get her legs and forearm broken? Posted by: Ken at April 3, 2003 10:01 PMThey broke her legs when they pushed them behind her ears to rape and sodomize her with an AK-47. Posted by: Leo Ambrose at April 4, 2003 04:13 AMIn the "Gulf" war, Iraqi intelligence would torture POW's by breaking their arms and/or legs with steel pipes. That's probably what happened to her. I wonder if its true that she actually prefered to fight to the death, though, if so, that takes alotta balls. Posted by: Dimitrios at April 4, 2003 10:20 AMGet real. They have said she was constantly seen crying and begging to go home. Rather fight to the death? please. I don't think she was even a combatant. She was a small teenage girl and really it is an embarrassment to the U.S. that she was even in Iraq. I have no problem with females in the military, or on gthe frontlines, but a girl like that should be no where near an enemy soldier. If a girl wants to be involved in that, then she should have the same mental and physical strength as any other Marine. Posted by: Leo Ambrose at April 4, 2003 01:20 PM To Prince Rufus,WE! CAN SAY WE! ARE NOT SORRY STEVE BROS Leo Ambrose, TO LEO AMBROSE: Welcome Home Ms. Lynch Posted by: EG at April 13, 2003 12:45 PMSicko F**kers deserve to die. Posted by: OXO at April 13, 2003 05:32 PMhi jessica... Hey, God Boy, take your tongue out of your "Lord's" asshole for a second. You think being obsessed with childish ideas like religion is going to get you some pussy? Think again, you faggot fuck! Go to hell, you moron. Lynch has been around marines for awhile now... she needs a real man, not a weakling like you. Posted by: John Quincy at April 14, 2003 01:47 PMIm an navy EOD Diver, think Im pretty tough, but I sure as hell glad I never went through anything like Pfc. Lynch had to go through. Im just a little irritated that everyone is making a big deal about a pretty little white girl, and no one is out there praising SPC Johnson? Hell, my family doesnt even know her name, they refer to her as that black girl. They arent bigots, but they arent giving her the attention that she deserves too. And what about all those marines? I hate marines (Cuz Im navy), and Im proud as heck of what they are doing. But I don't see any of them on the cover of PEOPLE Magazine Posted by: Van at April 16, 2003 05:50 PM>> They broke her legs when they pushed them behind her ears to rape and sodomize her > Leo Ambrose, I'm going to break your legs, you frikin maggot, and shove an ak47 up your ass Now, now "Colonol" Mills... -d Posted by: DaveBowman at April 20, 2003 11:43 PM> Jessica, Im 26 and christian and totally have a huge crush on you. ...And a huge BONE, too! To all those all are talking about Private Jessica Lynch as if you wanted CNN to broadcast her rape or torture "live" that is sickening , joking or not!you are no better than the people who held her capative. With that said.... God Bless .... Posted by: Judi at April 21, 2003 06:26 PMHer name is :SPC Shoshana Johnson... she is 30 years old has been in the army for 5 years... Was part of the 507th Maintenance Company from Fort Bliss. She too is a REAL american Hero Along with. PFC.Jessica Lych , Chief warrant Officer.Ronold young Jr. You People(non military) Have No Idea How Hard the Marines and Army Navy, AirForce do their job, I think this is good.
