Rounding up the usual suspects are they? Just kill the bad guys please. We'll sort out who did what to whom later. Jeebus. Posted by: feste at April 1, 2003 08:04 PMJust heard on Fox that the van may have been forced to speed through the checkpoint. They interviewed a Muslim cleric who said the husbands of the women were being held at gunpoint as hostages if they didn't rush the checkpoint. Don't know how accurate, but it's interesting to hear. Posted by: Meryl Yourish at April 1, 2003 08:05 PMMore evil shit from Islam and the usual predictable devil-approved accusations from the shit-blood media. Posted by: americanstreet at April 1, 2003 08:14 PMUS military is investigating... they say 1/2 dozen shots were fired when the van failed to stop. 6 bullets, kill 7 and wound 2. Ain't that something ?!? http://www.cnn.com/2003/WORLD/meast/04/01/sprj.irq.van.shooting/index.html Posted by: PassingBy at April 1, 2003 08:31 PMDon't forget the fact that it is very unusual in the region to have a vehicle loaded with that many women, with a woman driver. That isn't proof, but it is suggestive that something was going on. Add to that the failure to stop after warning rounds were fired, and you have either vicious Darwinism in action, or an intent to run the checkpoint. It is not hard to imagine the Fedayeen thugs telling the women that all they have to do is run the checkpoint - that the Americans wouldn't shoot. "US military is investigating... they say 1/2 dozen shots were fired when the van failed to stop. 6 bullets, kill 7 and wound 2" Be a more careful reader, a dozen rounds of 25 mm cannon fire, not rifle fire. Very heavy stuff. triple the diameter and ten times the wight of a nine mm slug, double the caliber and four times the wiegh to a 50 cal. After the centcom announcement it turns out the captain in charge of the roadblock himself state the "warning" was done wrong. As far as the Fox report it is from a Kuwaiti in the US, what kind of witness is that? Posted by: Mas at April 1, 2003 08:47 PMListen, you can gripe about procedure all you want, and shake your fist at the soldiers involved. But the fact of the matter is that these people RAN A MILITARY CHECKPOINT. I spent some time in Northern Ireland, and one of the first lessons I learned when I started driving around was that when the soldiers signal you to stop, you STOP, dammit! No warning shots should be necessary. If you don't stop, you have nobody but yourself to blame when they gun you down. This story is getting old, and it's really wearing on my nerves. The media is just obsessing over this thing, and now the military is too. How do we ever manage to fight a war under this kind of scrutiny?? Post a comment
