Children Interspersed with Fedayeen

From the Sydney Morning Herald

Soldiers in Hindiyah, a key Euphrates river crossing about 80 km south of Baghdad, said they saw pick-up trucks with children interspersed among Iraqi President Saddam Hussein's Fedayeen fighters before the attack began early yesterday, according to field reports.

The only way they will stop doing that is if it does not actually work. It may sound harsh but firing on target using human shields *regardless* will in the long run save lives by giving those vermin no motivation to use such tactics.

I think on this, the civilians that don't get killed will APPRECIATE the care the US soldiers showed...

This will have large dividends down the road. Its the same with wounded enemy soldiers, they don't have to be treated, but when they are, there is a better how that the individual will be thankful.

It begins with one Iraqi at a time, then momentum kicks in, and before you know it, you've changed enough of the nation as to not have them trying to shoot you in the streets.

They figure they win either way. If the coalition doesn't fire on them because of the children, they win. If the coalition does fire on them, killing the children, then they can hold up more dead babies and say "see what these monsters did" and they win.

There is a special place in hell for these people.
