A'suicide bombing we will go.
Islamic Jihad has told the BBC that the first wave of suicide bombers have arrived in Iraq to attack allied soldiers. Posted By Andrew Ian Castel-Dodge at March 30, 2003 11:41 PM | TrackBackComments
I like this quote from the linked article: "I know I might die. I don't want to kill people but I will if I have to, to protect people like those children with their heads missing." Here's my thought on all that: Wouldn't it be better to protect people like children with their heads still on instead of the ones that are already missing their heads? Dunno. I guess they're so brainwashed that straight thought isn't really that easy anymore. Posted by: Ted at March 30, 2003 11:50 PMPeople need to stop denying that this has nothing to do with Islam. I hear so many people say that islam is not a violent religion. Bullshit. That is just political correctness. If no one is willing to speak out about the fact that this is wholly based in islamic teachings, there is not way this will ever change. The first step in putting a stop to this heinous practice is recognizing where it come from - islam. Then, the next step is to educate the masses, but you can't get there until we see this for what it is - religion gone wrong. Posted by: name at March 31, 2003 12:03 AMwe can only hope the palestinians cease to exist after they send there population to iraq...this is funny being its palestinians...there paying saddam back for all the blood money he has sent...theese are some stupid people...hey everyone WAKE up the palestinians are TERRORISTS...and SADDAMN HATES JEWS LIKE HITLER DID.....i just hope our boys learn well and shoot first and ask qeustions later.... Posted by: aby normal at March 31, 2003 12:13 AMNow c'mon. Islam is the Religeon of Peace. The only problem ... in Western-speak, "peace" is the absence of violent conflict. In Islam? Peace is One World under Islam..... Thoreau or Emmerson (not sure) said we can discuss anything rationally if we all just agree on semantics first. The former Saudi Ambassador to the UK said that ALL THIS will just blow over once we're all practicing Islam. Posted by: acuteanger at March 31, 2003 12:14 AMPrediction: suicide bombings will be a minor annoyance at worst. A) Suicide bombers are Palestinians. How many are REALLY going to try to cross the desert through U.S. controlled territory? And how are they going to get through? On foot? there's nearly 300 miles of desert between the Jordanian border and the Euphrates...and we've got assets on the ground and in the air. B)We need to know more about the Fedayeen, but so far they don't strike me as more than thugs. Thugs are too cowardly to commit suicide...They aren't going to do it. And note, again, who the first bomber was: Palestinian. C)Suicide bombers are just another type of guerilla. Guerillas need popular support. Is there really going to be popular support to keep the Saddam regime afloat? So far, the Iraqi populace has shown three character traits: 1. They're staying out of the way unless it's at the point of a gun. 2. They may not like us much, yet, but they HATE Saddam. 3. They are actively helping us find the bad guys. These foreign mercenaries (remember their families get PAID if they blow up) are coming to a real battlefield, not some cafe in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. Let's see where this is in a month. This is typical Arab bluster and bullshit. Suicide bombing is only effective against unsuspecting and unarmed people, such as innocent civilians in Israeli markets. Soldiers will just keep the crowd at (dozens of) arms length and shoot anyone who comes too close. This is militarily insignificant. Posted by: Reid at March 31, 2003 12:32 AMHang on here. I just considered this for a second. These are presumably those same Palestinian Youth that we hear about. You know, the same ones Israel has forced to kill civilians because they have lost hope? What, exactly then is the Root Cause (tm) explanation for these same poor oppressed Palestinian Youth begging to go to IRAQ to blow themselves up? Or is the real reason, just plain flat out, unblinking, seething HATE? Posted by: CM at March 31, 2003 12:45 AMRight on. I have been trying to convince PC friends of mine for a long time that Islam is the problem. It is tough because we truly believe in freedom of religion. However, there has to be a line between true religion and a cult. I am probably not fully qualified to coherently define where that line is, but I do believe that wanton mass murder of innocents and it's acceptance among and entire culture, surely is on the other side of that line. There is no line between religion and a cult. They are all cults. The only difference is how many people you can get to join your cult. If enough people join the cult, it is a religion. It is just that some cults are worse than others. The hate-based cults, like Islam, are the worst. You should have the right to join any cult/religion you want. But I should have the right to condemn your beliefs and expose them for what they are. That is where the PC crowd gets it wrong. Just because someone enshrines their hate in a religion, doesn't mean it is entitled to be shielded from criticism. Posted by: name at March 31, 2003 12:52 AMPerhaps we have to face the idea that all suicide weapons are repugnant. It's a real shame that the moderate and conservative Islamics have to have their own religion highjacked and used as a weapon. It's also a shame those moderates are fearful of standing up and fighting against the supports for suiciders. Yes, history shows us examples of suicide weapons we may applaud from our past, however in the modern conflicts, suiciders have to eventually be named as 'nothings' rather than as martyrs. Anything we can do to support and help this thought grow is positive. Posted by: Jorg at March 31, 2003 01:42 AM"Palistinan" (fake name) homicide bombers are making one big mistake. By teaching their children to kill themselves, they will be extinct in 2 generations. But we know that can't happen, because they are all jordanians, saudi's sirians, etc. someone up there was right, NAME was the post. Children banging their heads from birth to the ground, 5 times a day, canting something they don't even understand. All other thought blocked till they are zombies of mohammed. We have seen other cults like this, and I ask, why can't people see this one? I have studied the koran for a few years, I can't believe the average American can even consider this as a religion. If you knew the HATE in this Koran, the Haddiths, and what is being taught in the mid east, it would frighten you all terribly. Yet, what do I see, protestors rallying for murder, murderers like saddam, who has killed millions, but yet you protest to keep him in power. How do we break this cult? Answer is, you must secularize it, give people freedom to choose, think rationaly. You hear some iranians on the news, saying we don't like saddam, but let us fix it. we have to do this, and we can't stop now, we must continue on. The problem with hindsight is that it's always too late.
I am an atheist, but if the U.S wants to pay me, I will happily invent my own brand of Islam. For $1000 a go I could then press the 'fire' button on whatever weapon I am presented with (let some military guy aim it) while shouting "Die, you believers in the wrong faith". I would be waging a jihad and so the liberals would have to support me even if it was a nuke and nobody could say it was 'Western Imperialism'. Any other takers? Maybe we could form a 'Peoples Islamic Freedom Army' and rubber stamp the Pentagon's plans? 'THIS WAR PLAN TO PROTECT THE ONE TRUE ISLAMIC FAITH HEREBY APPROVED'. Zack, your retarded. zack, go smoke another doobie Zack, go watch star trec re runs Zack, are you gay? Your problem is zack, you do not believe in anything, so how can you have an opinion if you have no base to stand on? For me, if i have to choose an evil, I'll choose american secular evil, not religious Islam evil. I believe Zack was being facetious. Posted by: name at March 31, 2003 04:49 AM"Suicide bombing is only effective against unsuspecting and unarmed people, such as innocent civilians in Israeli markets. " Sorry but yo opbviously don't know military history. Reagan ran like a baby out of Lebanon based on one Suicide bombing against US troops. I am not equating the motives nor regime, but if you read any war histories asymetrical warfare has been always celebrated against a stronger opponent. Resistance fighters in Europe during World War Two located themselves in churches, schools and hospitals and attacked German forces while dressed -- indeed deliberately disquised -- as civilians. In my father's home town in Italy there is a monument to a priest who hosted a partisan group in the local church, where local children were enlisted to carry weapons and women civilians shot at German soldiers. the priest carried out a suicidal grenade attack on the German HQ. He is considered a saint (or one might say a "martyr"). This type of warfare goes back to ancient times. I say we are right to take down Saddam, but all this carping about asymetrical warfare shows a lot of people haven't even read US military history.
