Even if the Iraqis did it to themselves, it is a tragedy. The sooner the bloody dictator and his Ba'athist Socialist Party are gone from Iraq the better.

Wars are not won by funeral parades. The only reason that they are showing this is that they do not have any footage of Americans recently captured or killed. Good.

I'm confused. Are they congratulating us on how few we've hit in the past nine days or complaining that we haven't killed more?

It absolutely cannot be discounted that the Iraqi regime is capable of blowing up the market for public relations purposes. Look at the panArab uplift the regime got as a result of the first market explosion.

I know a conspiracy when I see it... The military keeps bombing markets to make space for new Walmarts. Contracts are already signed. (Piggly Wiggly was low bidder, but was disqualified so as not to offend Arab Street.)

If the Iraqi's weren't putting their children as their "human sheilds" in the milatary and government offices, we wouldn't be seeing images of injured and wounded children. They are doing this so that to the rest of the world it will looks as if the U.S. is slaughtering its people. The reality of it is that Iraq is slaughtering its own people by putting them in places they know will be targets.

The US and Britain have inflicted more casualties upon themselves than the Iraqi's and bombed a bus in Syria with an errant missile but didn't bomb this market on accident? Yeah right...

Were I to run out of eggs and milk during a missile attack I might just forego the trip to the market. When being bombed do Iraqis go shopping? These must be the "Upper East Side" Baghdadians? (three martoonies and a trip to Barney’s)

As sad as the loss of life is, was the Hussein going-out-of-business sale on hummus and pita bread that irresistible? I may be wrong but something just doesn’t seem to add up.

While I do not doubt that American bombs have killed people. A Western reporter who visited the last market bombing stated that she found the scene very odd. There were many supporters of Saddam at the event. Something about the whole scene made her very feel uncomfortable.

What was interesting is that Centcom stated that yes we did bomb baghdad that day. However it was the other side of the city. We did not target the market. However they did say something interesting that
if we did bomb that market our bombs are for more powerful and we are sure that our bomb would have made far more damage to that neighbourhood.

I am sure that no Iraqi living in Bahgdad would believe this story. The Iraqi Government is going to have a field day with this one. 50+ people is ALOT of collateral damage. ( yah nice euphemism)
The media is also going to go after this event with vigor as well. Should be interesting to see how both sides spin this.

I have to agree. The Moslems in Bosnia were famous for this.

They build some solid sidewalks in Iraq. I noticed rebar on about six inch centers in the pictures of the market.

Looking at pictures of the market area, you'd think that a coalition missle/bomb would do a heck of a lot more damage.

U.S. weaponry screws up just often enough to give these reports a degree of credence,but the notion that Saddam is doing it is even more credible.

Police and intelligence operatives in the old apartheid regime in South Africa were known to plant bombs in theaters and elsewhere, and blame the carnage on the ANC.

This is the same setup as the last time they claimed we bombed a market. I don't think they have the munitions to "replicate" what one of our bombs would really do to them. But I also believe they will keep trying as long as the Arab countries believe their propaganda.
