Predator Takes Out Satellite Dish in Baghdad

General Meyers, in the latest briefing, showed video of a Predator UAV using a Hellfire missile to take out a satellite dish in the parking lot of the Iraqi Ministry of Information.

This is the first Predator imagery from Baghdad. One suspects that this system was used to minimize damage to nearby structures which may have contained foreign journalists at the time.

I am very impressed, those journalists must have been a very tempting target.

I don't get it. Why not give 24 hours warning and then blow up the Ministry of Information and the two hotels where foreign journalists are staying to get at the bunkers underneath them? Saddam might be there, it being the only place we wouldn't bomb.

So what then, would the point be of giving notice? He would only move. The M of I is a legitimate military target and can be attacked at any time. Journalists are taking an awful chance and their presence should not deter US/UK targeting planners.

this is another dramatic inovation in military technology. being able to fly around inside an enemy area with heavy air defenses, and then to locate and destroy a relatively small and very specific target is quite amazing.

Probably no bunkers under hotels.

This is a great use of a hellfire.

The problem with giving notice is that it could likely result in orphans and seniors citizens being ushered in before the barrage, knowing how the Iraqi thugs operate.
