Chemical Unloading and al Quaida
This is the paragraph they are referring to: But some military officers said Mr. Hussein had, in the last week or so, moved the artillery pieces that could fire chemical weapons into hiding, not only near the Medina Division, south of Baghdad, but in western Iraq. Officials said Iraqi officers had been warned by the United States, through leaflets and other means, that they would be held responsible for war crimes if they participated in a chemical attack. On the air, they just mentioned on Fox that there are reports of al Qaida cells operating inside Basra. Posted By Allison (An Unsealed Room) at March 28, 2003 07:08 AM | TrackBackComments
"there is intelligence that Iraqi forces have been seen in full chemical gear unloading what look like chemical weapons" ... sheesh this is so vague it is virtually meaningless Posted by: angrYkook at March 28, 2003 08:07 AMUnfortunately the threat of "trial for war crimes" is not very effective against people who by all accounts seem to be quite willing to engage in suicidal attacks. Posted by: Kalle (kafir forever) at March 28, 2003 09:38 AMGood piece at TCS re status of our defenses (we've got problems) but also the difficulties of various types of delivery systems. One of those generals on Fox says that in Iran war, the special RG came in to load the canisters. That's bad (not subject to threats) and good (we can keep track of their movements. Posted by: Lloyd at March 28, 2003 11:58 AMNoting recent Iraqi statements that the US coalition is losing badly and desperate to avoid embarassment and so, might try anything. I suggest watching for a chem/bio attack by Iraqi military on Baghdad. That the US would perform such an atrocity will be readily believed in the well-prepared Arab fantasy world.
