Brits Blast 14 Iraqi Tanks

British forces have destroyed 14 Iraqi tanks near Basra in what is described as the biggest British tank battle since World War II.

The battle ensued after a squadron of 14 Challenger II tanks from the Scots Dragoon Guards "came across" 14 Iraqi T-55 tanks as they were heading down the al-Faw peninsula, according to Admiral Michael Boyce, head of British defence staff.

14 Challengers vs 14 T-55s. Heh. *One* Challenger vs 14 T-55s isn't a fair fight, much less 14.

war ain't funny.

there was also a report in the British briefing today from Hoon that another 19 tanks had been destroyed by aircraft ... it seems to have dropped out of the news, a blunder?

I think the biggest tank battle in WWII occurred on the eastern front between Russia & Germany, with hundreds of tanks involved on each side.

The article refers to the biggest *British* tank battle since... etc.

I guess that "moving out into the open to draw them away" strategy didn't work too wekk, huh?
