It seems that the Second Marine Expeditionary Force (II MEF) may be in Jordan. This is pretty huge, both strategically and geopolitically.

Whoa, what's up with all the surprises? I tought we were stuck in a quagmire. :-)
Does anyone know when GlobalSecurity last updated that page? Is there any other confirmation of this?
It's great news, but I'm a little skeptical that Palestinian Jordan would allow it. I know they've allowed limited troop deployments (a few spec-war types, and search & rescue assets), but even as pro-American as the king is, he'd have hell to pay if he did this much.
I love it when a plan comes together!
Is it possible that they were simply airlifted into those seized airbases in the West of Iraq, and the reports are assuming they came from Jordan?
It's like in Suikoden III, during a strategic battle, when you're a bit down, and all of a sudden *bamf* some new units appear, right when you need them!
King Abdullah is more than happy to help us. After all his kingdom is going to expand dramatically.
There was supposed to be Obscure Reference tags around that post! :D
The media seems ultra-focused on the possibility of Saddam having something up his sleeve but they completely ignore the possibility that we have something every bit as nasty up ours.
I doubt this to be true but, if it was, those Iraqis would be in a very unenviable position.
A reporter up in Northern Iraq said yesterday (or day before) that there was a two-star Marine General around Mosul.
So maybe they aren't in Jordan.
I read today that Marines were seen training in MOUT (Military Operations in Urban Terrain)with IDF Forces in Jenin.
Makes perfect sense to me that they landed in Israeli or Jordanian ports and are poised if needed.
If you check out the silence which has surrounded H2 and H3, the airbases in the Western Desert, it is pretty certain they have been being used for something. Is this the something?
One other question - has anyone heard anything about the whereabouts of the 82nd Airborne??
The 82nd Airborne is in Afghanistan, Taliban hunting.
