Iraq rejects Saudi plan to stop war

Baghdad, March 26

Baghdad on Wednesday rejected what it called a Saudi "plot" to stop the onslaught on Iraq, vowing to "slaughter" US-led troops if they do not pull out immediately.

Have they seen Monty Python and The Holy Grail?

That's it. Tick off your neighbors.

The Saudis and other surrounding Arabs may hate Hussein's guts, but they feel really squeamish about us being in there. Statements like this may serve to reconcile them to our presence.

It is but a flesh wound. Come back here, I'll bite your ankles.

Oh ya, Saddam thinks he won the Gulf War, too.

Well, that certainly makes things easier.

Actually Saddam won GW, well at least kind of. It's easy to be afterwise but there was uprise back then. And a request for support - targeted at US mostly, but there were many other countries included back then.

Instead whole world turned back to Basir and there is said to happen quite a slaughter to prevent uprise. Maybe it was Saddam who ordered this - don't know for sure. But i guess he could be considered as winner anyway.

If such a movement rises again - it is important that there are troops trying to prevent it US/UK/UN no matter. After riots begin, there's no way finding out who to help and who are 'the bad guys'. It doesn't matter at this point who are 'winning' it's bloody massacre anyway.

This is totally based on idea that iraqis truly hate Saddams soldiers - as reported from Basra yesterday.

I understand what you are saying. And Saddam stayed in power, which could be construed as a victory from his viewpoint. But it shows you how crazy he is to say that he actually won the Gulf War when shortly after he took over another country we came in and destroyed his army, pushed them back beyond their borders, and continued to destroy parts of his army until we decided it was time to move on. It would seem now that we should have just taken care of him then, but we did what we thought was the best thing and completely repressed his advance on another country. Whether or not Saddam sees his quelling of an uprising within his own borders as a victory or not, when he says he defeated the aggressor or evil west known as America he is wrong.

Ah. Well, then. We can now resume our summary destruction of the Iraqi armed forces.

Greetings:

My favorite quote of the war so far...

"If I were in Baghdad and I was looking south and I saw a U.S. Army division that is on the outskirts of Baghdad, I don't know that that would be shock, but I'd certainly be a little concerned," General Myers told reporters. "And they'll have a lot more to be concerned about shortly."
