From the Washington Times:
In theory, the senior senator from Connecticut has a lot going for him as the only Jew among the nine Democrats in the intensifying hunt for the 2004 nomination. But some of his co-religionists also say Jewish donors feel drawn to President Bush, who is turning out to be the best friend Israel has ever had in the Oval Office.
"The smart political money in the Jewish community right now is sitting on the sidelines or supporting the president," says Lee Cowen, a Washington-based Jewish fund-raiser.
Note that that's the WT headline.
Posted by: Alan at July 8, 2003 08:07 AMThis is great news for the Republican party.
Heretofore, most Jews voted Democrat and trusted the Dems to do the right thing for Israel.... I guess the cat's out of the bag now, though. They see where the real support, rather than the empty promises, are coming from. They should have realized it back in the early 1990s, when Clinton was snivelling to Arafat and trying to solve the problems over there by sweeping Israel's needs under a rug. And then the world's longest living terrorist got to share in a Nobel Peace Prize, thanks to Clinton's placebo cure.
The Jewish vote is no small potato knish, especially in eastern seaboard states, Florida and California.
Ditto that seth
