Kerry | Friends of John Kerry

The Boston Globe reports that John Kerry plans to set up a federal campaign committee, Friends of John Kerry, which would allow him to seek a fifth term in the US Senate in 2008 while not precluding another run for president that year.

The Committee will be a vehicle for fund-raising for either campaign.

According to the Globe, Kerry transferred all the money from his previous committee to his presidential campaign committee after retaining his Senate seat in 2002 and Kerry could do the same should he decide against seeking reelection in favor of a second bid for the presidency.

Kerry will get as much chance to run again as McGovern, Humphrey, Mondale, Dukakis and Gore did - which is to say - NONE.

The perception of ‘damaged goods’ (rightly or wrongly) is applied to all losers on a national level. He’s got as much chance of running against Dole has he has running again, period.

Take the money and buy a personality, John. Buy some warmth or the ability to laugh at yourself or admit your mistakes. If you could come out of this more human and less statue, you’ll be ahead of the game.

I’m sure republicans would love to see you again - I just don’t think the DNC will repeat that mistake.

IMHO he should return the jar of quarters and change that the kid gave him. The interest on the 54M (?) should be able to reinburse a peanut butter jar full or quarters to his “war chest” in about 45 seconds.

I’m sure the Clintons just love this.

I’m ready to support Kerry again. I support him now. Moving to what people call the Clinton center is not what the party needs. Hold steady. Maintain a light focused on Progressive Policies. The Republicans will implode. We have a lot of ground to make up when this is over and need to hold what ground we have. Walking toward the side pulling away from you in a tug of war merely puts you in the mud pile quicker. Hold fast Kerry. Though you don’t hear enough of these voices, hold fast.
