2004 US Presidential Election

Arkansas | Local Scuttlebutt

Just spoke with a local candidate for State Representative, Mark Martin. You’d be amazed at the energy these people display even with almost no rest for days. He went to bed at 4AM this morning and was at the polls by 7:30. He traveled the entire district, roughly a 400 mile round trip, to hit every polling precinct. Now, he gets to spend the evening schmoozing with us.

The typical Arkansas story, however, is the gentleman who was running for Constable in Washington County. Sadly, he passed away a couple of weeks ago, although he is still expected to win election handily. When they read his will last week, they found that he had bequested money to rent a banquet room, buy food and, most importantly, beer for everyone. My kind of candidate. If you can’t read thhe sign, it says, “Welcome Friends! Have a beer on me! William G. Myers, the good looking Republican.”
