2004 US Presidential Election

Idaho | Predicted High Voter Turnout / Glitch found before votes casted
The final day of the 2004 election campaign is under way. Idaho Newspapers are reporting that there is a higher voter turnout than before. Election officials across the state are bracing for a record turnout. Absentee and early voting has been heavy already. And Secretary of State Ben Ysursa predicts 72 percent of registered voters will cast ballots. That’s 530,000 people. The polls open at eight local time Tuesday morning. Not much but it’s a good thing people are taking their time out of their daily lives to go show up and vote for this important election. Meanwhile in Cassia County, voters didn’t almost vote for the correct candidates they wanted because of a glitch in the system. Thanksfully one of the workers of the election. Cassia County voters almost didn’t get to choose the next president. But the problem was fixed, thanks to a sharp-eyed county employee. Elections Clerk Barbara Mai decided to check the ballots late last week. And that’s when she realized there was an alignment error on the front page of the ballots. The error meant that voters would’ve had no chad to punch for the presidential election. The ballots were reprinted and each one was double-checked in each of the county’s 92 voting machines. County Clerk Larry Mickelsen says Mai’s attention saved the county from an election catastrophe. Well you know that the election can never be perfectly runned even with all the “10,000” lawyer controversy from both sides watching the election closely.
