2004 US Presidential Election
November 02, 2004
Georgia | Atlanta: The First Half

We visited three poll sites this morning. Before the opening in east Cobb, voters waited in line for up to an hour. The turnout in each of the three locations was primarily 30-70 year-olds. At noon in my polling place in west Cobb, we waited only a few minutes to go through the registration checking process, and we waited to vote for less than a couple of minutes. The onsite election officers stated that they had seen few young people voting, and there had only been one provisional ballot cast so far. So much for the “Vote or Die” program. I’m afraid that Sean “Puff Daddy” Coombs’ next party will have to be a wake. Make that a BIG wake. Oh yeah, would somebody check into Carmen Diaz’ connection with rape kit manufacturers…

This sample represents a pretty efficient process, and Georgia’s electronic voting system seems to be performing flawlessly.

As you post your comment, please mind our simple comment policy: we welcome all perspectives, but require that comments be both civil and respectful. We also ask that you avoid the extensive use of profanity, racist terms (neither of which we consider civil or respectful), and other boorish language.

As a courtesy, we will first send you an email noting a violation so you understand the boundaries. We also will frown upon those who suggest that we ban other individuals for voicing unpopular opinions, should those opinions be voiced in a civil and respectful manner. The point of our comment threads is to provide a forum for spirited though civil and respectful discourse … it is not to provide a forum in which everyone will agree with your point of view.
