Alabama | Another report of high voter turnout
From Instapundit reader John Earnest in Birmingham, Alabama: FWIW, in the population-heavy overwhelmingly Republican Birmingham suburbs (yes, there are ‘burbs here, even city-center regentrification), the turnout is astounding. Radio buzz indicates historic turnout. My own experience was a 10-fold increase in early-morning voters. He adds comments about turnout in other places, in the post on Instapundit that is the source of the above quote. Posted by susanna cornett at November 2, 2004 01:35 PM | TrackBack Comments
This large turnout in pro-Bush Birmingham is a good sign that Bush supporters are energized. It will be interesting to see if heavily pro-Kerry areas show similar enthusiasm. I’ve yet to meet any Demo’s that are pro-Kerry. They’re just weirdly angry at Bush. For what it’s worth I just told a Demo get-out-the-vote caller that his party better not try to fight this one out in the courts. —Mike Perry, Seattle Posted by: Inkling I can report very heavy turnout in Huntsville. I vote in Madison, which never has enough polling places, and I waited 3 hours and 40 minutes to vote after arriving mid-morning, before the lunch rush. People who are waiting to vote after work may not get through until after 8:00. (The polls close at 7, but officials are trying to assure everyone that anyone who is in line will be permitted to vote. I have concerns based on past history that this promise may not be honored.)
