Iowa | Huge GOP Push In Iowa

MSNBC TV is reporting that the GOP / Bush campaign has made 250,000 phone calls and knocked on 220,000 doors in just the past 48 hours, and that that number may reach 500,000 by the time the polls open. In a state with only two million registered voters, this would mean nearly 1 of every 4 registered Iowans would have been contacted by the GOP.

Part of Karl Rove’s strategy is to win two states Gore carried in 2000 … and Iowa would be a prime candidate for doing so if this outreach effort bears fruit.

Both campaigns were in Iowa today … Bush is still there … and early voting has been under way for 30 days.

Come tomorrow, keep your eye on Iowa.

I am in the battlegound state of Florida. I have not been contacted, but the 28 year old first time voter I work with has been contacted several times by the Democratic Party, usually by a Bill Clinton recording or some such thing. She has switched to Kerry in the last few weeks, so maybe its working. Let us hope.

As you post your comment, please mind our simple comment policy: we welcome all perspectives, but require that comments be both civil and respectful. We also ask that you avoid the extensive use of profanity, racist terms (neither of which we consider civil or respectful), and other boorish language.

We also will frown upon those who suggest that we ban other individuals for voicing unpopular opinions, should those opinions be voiced in a civil and respectful manner.
