Debates | Resolve vs. Change

The CS Monitor considers tonight’s debate as an appeal to “competing impulses” among voters: a sense of resolve vs. a desire for change.

I look forward to a Kerry Presidency.

I think he could last as long as six months. Then Edwards for three and Hastert for one.

Here is what the DNC is up to again. The good thing is that you can use their resources to find the newspapers etc in your area and write the more thoughtful accurate responses if you like. The online polls are garbage and most just let them do their thing last time or even helped them a bit so when the polls showed Edwards 99% Cheney 1%, it was pretty clear what happened. Even CNN took down their poll and put out a different question. Letters to the editor can make a difference though - let people know about all the Kerry and Edwards lies, Kerry’s “A New Soldier” book and how their vile rhetoric actually shows their disdain for the country. They are not displaying patriotism in any form. It is a time of war, but they try to separate the nation from within and from our TRUE allies. The letter below showed up in my mail totday from the DNC:

You watched John Kerry win the first presidential debate against George Bush with a commanding performance that showed Americans they can expect strong and principled leadership from him as President. But it was your efforts that kept the Republicans from spinning their way to victory. And after the vice presidential debate between John Edwards and Dick Cheney, when the Republican Party sought to mimic your efforts, you again kept the Republicans from claiming a victory that never existed.

It’s time to rally again. Tonight, John Kerry and George Bush will face off in the second presidential debate. The President will look to make personal attacks on John Kerry rather than answer questions about his record, and the Republican spin machine will be spinning like there’s no tomorrow. After failing for two debates, they’re desperate. Once again, we need you to take action the moment they leave the stage.

There are four critical things you can do to help beat the Republican spin machine.

1. Forward this email to family, coworkers, and friends.
2. Vote in online polls.
3. Write a letter to the editor.
4. Call radio and television stations.

Your activism following the debates has made the difference — and it will again tonight.
Vote in Online Polls

National and local news organizations will be conducting online polls during and after the debate asking for readers’ opinions. Look for online polls at these news websites, and make sure to vote in every one of them:

  • CBS: http://www.cbsnews.com/
    * CNN: http://www.cnn.com/
    * Fox News: http://www.foxnews.com/
    * MSNBC: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/
    * Wall Street Journal: http://www.wsj.com/
    * Akron Beacon-Journal: http://www.ohio.com/
    * Atlanta Journal-Constitution: http://www.ajc.com/
    * Detroit News: http://www.detnews.com/
    * Los Angeles Times: http://www.latimes.com/
    * Minneapolis-St. Paul Star-Tribune: http://www.startribune.com/
    * Orlando Sentinel: http://www.orlandosentinel.com/
    * Philadelphia Inquirer: http://www.philly.com/
    * South Florida Sun-Sentinel: http://www.sun-sentinel.com/

And be sure to check the websites of your local newspapers and TV stations for online polls. It is crucial that you do this in the minutes immediately following the debate.

Make sure swing voters know why you support John Kerry by sharing your thoughts on message boards in target states. Visit our 2004 Debate Center after the debate for a list of message boards where you can fight the Republican spin. If you visit chat rooms on AOL, MSN, Yahoo, or other websites, be sure to let people know what you thought of the debate.
Write a Letter to the Editor

Immediately after the debate, go online and write a letter to the editor of your local paper. If you feel John Kerry laid out a plan to make America stronger put it in your letter. If you feel George Bush failed to defend his four years of failure, put it in your letter.

Writing a letter is easier than you think. It takes just a few minutes and just a few clicks using our online media center:

Call Radio and TV Stations

TV and radio coverage immediately following the debate is where much of the spin is cemented. Make sure you call radio and TV stations to tell them what you thought.

Find shows in your area on our media website:

Don’t forget to visit our 2004 Debate Center before, during, and after the debate for important information and more ways to take action.

Liberals are a threat to national security. Joseph McCarthy, where are you when we need you!

Ann Coulter has it right: liberals WON‘T fight a war!

If “Flipper” is elected President, we might as well all just convert to Islam now and be done with it! And you can also kiss Western Christian civilization goodbye forever…

We are not up against “freedom fighters”, “patriots”, or “resistance fighters”. We are up against JIHADISTS. They are not against us because of our policies or our freedoms; they are against us because we are not Moslems!

I will vote for George Bush because he will do the most damage to Islam. I have no sympathy left for Moslems. Unfortunately, Bush does not recognize that the problem is Islam itself, and not ‘terror’, which is only a tactic. Maybe after the next attack on America, which is sure to come at some point, everyone will finally wake up to the fact that we ARE at war with Islam. We are at war with Islam because Islam is at war with all non-Moslems, whether we recognize that fact or not. If you really think Islam is a ‘religion of peace’, I have a bridge over the Tigris I would like to sell you!

When the call for the Crusades went out in the Middle Ages, it was because they recognized the threat to Western Christian civilization. They did what they had to do.

It is time to call for a Crusade to end the Moslem threat once and for all!

“Deus vult!”

I collect political items, you have certainly lived up to your name. Thank you for reprinting that note. It is exactly the kind of information that one should be able to get online at a site like The Command Post.

What do the rest of you think? I’m going to say 70%. Of course, that leaves a 30% chance that the AR Bushwacker was serious and some of you probably think that’s too high.

Anyhoo, we aren’t at war with Islam. Unless we’re willing to start nuking 1/4 of the world, we can’t fight Islam in any case.

We’re at war with Islamic fundamentalists. The source of that fundamentalism is mainly in Saudi Arabia. That’s where most of the funding for madrasas and the like comes from.

Unfortunately, the Bush family is a bit too close to the Saudis. While we couldn’t invade S.A., that closeness makes the task of reforming them more difficult.

Furthermore, I don’t think Kerry would be stupid enough to refer to what he was doing as a “crusade.”

One of the major threats to Western Civilization is massive immigration coupled with multiculturalism.

You might think Bush, being a so-called conservative, would favor reasonable rather than massive immigration and favor assimilation rather than multiculturalism.

You’d be wrong. Bush is going to let up to three million illegal aliens stream across our borders this year, and he lets his amigo Vicente Fox proclaim that all the Mexicans in the U.S. - whether illegal aliens or here for generations - are part of the greater Mexican Nation.

Conservatives should vote for divided government and then work to keep Kerry in check. We’ll probably have more fiscal responsibility that way too.
