Bush | Bush blasts Kerry for remarks on the Allawi
From the Fort Worth Star Telegram: President Bush hit back hard at Sen. John Kerry on Friday for what he called Kerry’s attacks on Iraqi Prime Minister Ayad Allawi, who stood by the president’s side this week as steadfastly as a member of the Bush campaign. ..Kerry must really be a fool, with these speechs being played real time and then him coming out almost immediately to dispute them is unreal.14-15 of the provinces could have elections today..folks that almost 75% right now..4 months from now there could be another 5-15 percent addition..but even if the current numbers are used-75 out 100 is a damn good start…this man is not a flip-flopper he`s worst than that its more like a revolving door on ..steroids..his merry-go round is spinning out of control..sheesh..the crash aint going to be pretty.. Posted by: Rob_NC Unfortunately, with his lead lost and his numbers falling in states that used to be safe Democratic supporter states, he has no option other than to attack and discredit the administraton and the President. I bet that the most recent focus groups feedback coupled with the arrival of the Clinton team have led Kerry and Co. to take out this risky approach. He is losing support among his base. Some 30% of the democratic base are not voting for Kerry, but against Bush. He can not afford to lose that foundation… hence the aggressive and bitter anti-Bush tone in his speeches. I would venture that the Kerry advisers are saying that if the Deaniacs and anti-war crowd decide to withdraw support from Kerry, it is all over… landslide victory for Bush. If he goes hard over against the war on terror, the other 20% of the moderate Dems that favor action against the terrorists whereever they are will start to abandon ship. That could cost him NJ and PA for sure. Not too many safe options there for Kerry to take. Posted by: steve For an interesting take, read this article from the Weekly Standard about how the press and many others are mistaken by calling Iraq a “war” when it is more appropriately a campaign within the GWOT. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,133518,00.html In an earlier post, I offered up that the current attacks and media support for “wrong war in the wrong place at the wrong time” had significant historical parallels to WW II. The war time President Roosevelt was constantly being second guessed and criticized by the Media and the Republicans about how some campaigns in the war did not make sense. Specifically, I pointed out how the war in Italy via Sicily compares to what we are trying to do in Iraq and how the opposition party was also highly critical of that campaign. Iraq is not a war in the true sense of what a “war” means. It is rightfully a major campaign just as Afghanistan, Indonesia, actions being taken in Pakistan are part of the overall strategy. It has put the terrorists on the defensive and has stirred up a hornet’s nest in the process… just as Guadalcanal and the campaign in the Solomons did in 1942-1943. Likewise, the opening of the Allied front in Italy was a major blow to the Germans in their attempts to attack Russia and helped force the Nazi war machine back to a defensive nature. Posted by: steve Bush was right to be critical of Kerry. It’s a double whammy. Not only does it diminish Kerry’s candidacy by showing how unpresidential he is but it also demonstrates the willingness of Kerry’s “base” to sell out anyone anywhere in a vain effort to hide from the hard work of dealing with islamofacism.
