Diana Kerry, that is. From The Australian :

John Kerry’s campaign has warned Australians that the Howard Government’s support for the US in Iraq has made them a bigger target for international terrorists.

Diana Kerry, younger sister of the Democrat presidential candidate, told The Weekend Australian that the Bali bombing and the recent attack on the Australian embassy in Jakarta clearly showed the danger to Australians had increased.

Australia has kept faith with the US and we are endangering the Australians now by this wanton disregard for international law and multilateral channels,” she said, referring to the invasion of Iraq.
[…]
Ms Kerry, who taught school in Indonesia for 15 years until 2000, is heading a campaign called Americans Overseas for Kerry which aims to secure the votes of Americans abroad — including the more than 100,000 living in Australia.

In the 2000 election, analysts say absentee votes cast overseas tipped the balance to Mr Bush in the decisive state of Florida.

Numerous commentators here in Australia have pointed out that the Bali bombing happened before the Iraq war.

I’m speechless, almost.

WTF is Camp Kerry doing? It’s Johnny’s unconscionable blathering about GW’s “secret plan” for troop deployment to Diana’s undermining the support of an allie..

Oh…wait a minute…. the Aussies are part of the “fraudulent” coalition right? The bribed or bullied ones?

We know supporting the US can be risky, it’s just that many of us think not supporting current US policy would be even more dangerous.

We know that ‘keeping the faith’ with the USA is also sometimes fraught with peril : but whether we agree with current US policy or denounce it as misguided, we’ll remain faithful mates.

As for the Surgeon-General style warning “Supporting the USA can be hazardous to your health” we already got that message from Abu Bakar Bashir. At least Diana Kerry isn’t recommending we all convert to Islam. Yet.

As a surrogate of the Democrat Presidential candidate, Ms. Kerry has every right to undermine U.S. foreign policy without being subjected to questions about her patriotism from the likes of people on this weblog, thank you very much.

How do her comments differ from Cheney’s? The ones Kerry attacked Cheney over.

Alan,

How about you keep her and we will take the Cane Toads? Seems fair.

Posted by: jones [TypeKey Profile Page] at September 20, 2004 06:49 AM

Jones : After some considerable thought, I think we’d take that deal.
On November 3rd, she’ll be an irrelevancy, consigned to the dustbin of history.
So some short-term pain (compared to Cane Toads) is worth the long-term benefit.

Good job your election’s in early November though. No way we could last until Christmas.

OK, I‘m persuaded — only John Kerry and perhaps John Edwards have carte blanche to undermine U.S. foreign policy. Surrogates are right out.

I believe that ter0 is being facesious?

What do facts have to do with “elemental truths?.” How un-nuanced of you Alan.

LEFTY LIES!!!!

Sept 11, 2001 - World Trade Center Attack
Oct 13, 2002 - Bali Attack killing 180+ Autralians
Mar 19, 2003 - Operation Iraqi Freedom

The attacks in Bali happened nearly 6 months before Operation Iraqi Freedom. Obviously she is not an history teacher.

Forget the facts and history, spread the fear!

Agrippa,

This speech, obviously cleared by John,is begging an important ally to abandon the USA because we invaded Iraq, thus causing Bali.

This type of comment(even if it were accurate timeline wise) is why lots of Americans could not consider voting for him, notwithstanding Bush’s weakness.

Bush is for the USA,Kerry appears to be for weakening the USA. I think this is what all leftists desire myself.
