Bush | John Fund Would Rather Be Blogging
The blogger element of Memogate gains additional attention, this time from John Fund of the Wall Street Journal. From today’s OpinionJournal: A watershed media moment occurred Friday on Fox News Channel, when Jonathan Klein, a former executive vice president of CBS News who oversaw “60 Minutes,” debated Stephen Hayes, a writer for The Weekly Standard, on the documents CBS used to raise questions about George W. Bush’s Vietnam-era National Guard service. Posted by Alan at September 13, 2004 07:11 AM | TrackBack Comments
Of all the eliteiest BS! Do these folks really have that small a mind to classify bloggers as such? All one has to do is read just a sampling of the posts and realize that bloggers have a vast and very imformative depth of experience which directly applies to the news items and developments in this election year!!! The MSM would be well served if they just assign even one junior staffer to follow and read some of the blogs and posts. I for one (and there have been at least a dozen other former military reservists and active duty types on both sides of the battle) could have saved CBS significant trouble and miscues had they tried to vet this story through us rather than their own reporters and staff. The MSM has a woeful lack of knowledge in nearly all things military, especially in the processes, procedures and culture. Their assumptions and apparent willingness to run with this story in spite of the warning signs that could have been admirably augmented or cautioned by some of those “guys sitting in their PJs in the living room.” This type of respone by a Media type is not endearing any of us to the MSM and only serves to energize bloggers further to question and probe future MSM stories. Posted by: steve We need a campaign to mail pajamas to CBS News. I especially recommend sending them Dinosaur Pajamas: An inexpensive pair of plain pajamas can be found on Amazon.com at http://tinyurl.com/42a4x Posted by: andrewblack I concur Andrew. I would add the suggestion that the P.J.s be full of “Blog” when mailed. Posted by: kabar77 Post a comment
