| Kerry: Al Qaeda Benefits From Bush Gun Stance
Sen. John Kerry charged Friday that President Bush was helping terrorists and caving in to the National Rifle Association by not pushing to extend the 10-year-old federal assault weapons ban that expires at 12:01 a.m. Monday. Posted by Michele at September 11, 2004 07:15 AM | TrackBack Comments
Michele Kerry does not want anyone in the US to be able to buy a Blooper(M79) over the counter, either. He has seen what kind of damage one of them can do to himself. Posted by: Cap'n DOC So let me get this straight, if so-called “assault weapons” become legal to buy because they are no longer banned, terrorists will choose to go through the process of buying these weapons legally (providing ID, going through a background check, etc.) rather than buying them illegally, which would be their only option if the ban were in place. Someone please give the man a clue! Cheers… Posted by: AlexPGP No terrorist will benefit from me being armed. Especially if I can get out and practice more. Posted by: Brian Kerry is lying. Especially considering the law is useless. I bought my AK-47, a Romanian SAR-1 with a 40 round mag, last year, brand new, for $350. And my AR-180B (3 30’s, 3 20 round mags) three years ago. So, terrorists apparently just gotta have those flash suppressors and bayonet lugs, right John? All those legal post-ban guns just won’t do! The fact is, this bill was useless. But since Johnny boy wants to ban anything that isn’t a break action shotgun, he’ll lie to get it done. Here’s a link to some officers that want the ban to expire: And here’s a link for real information about the AWB: Posted by: Spade One more thing: this is just scaremongering. Kerry is trying to push a gun ban or “the terrorists will get us 1” How is this different from what they claim Bush and Co are doing with 9/11? They claim he is trying to scare the American people to get elected. Well apparently Kerry is doing that too, to get elected and to pass useless legislation. Posted by: Spade Yeah… the old “if we ban the weapons criminals use they won’t be able to get them”. Yeah right. John Kerry is wreaking of desperation right now. Posted by: smithpa68 In additon, even the Violence Policy Center admits the ban is useless. http://www.montgomeryadvertiser.com/NEWSV5/storyV5edltrs903w.htm To put it simply, the ban was window dressing. It served only as a stepping stone to more bans. Posted by: jones Hate to say it, but if Kerry’s for something I’m about 90% sure I want to be against itm just on reflex. I remember when this was passed, (bought my first rifle right afterward, in fact) and it didn’t make much sense to me to regulate firearms that hadn’t been used much at all in criminal activity. I mean, how many convenience stores had been robbed with assault rifles? How many drive-by bayonettings had there been? And if the VPC itself (which, as I recall, was pushing for this ban in the first place) doesn’t think it was useful - why should it be continued? Yet Kerry thinks it should be. That’s not surprising - it’s legislation, it’s useless, so it should be continued. Right. That’s why the DNC’s losing ground - they’re more concerned with maintaining the status quo than examining the utility of what they’ve passed, and maybe (oh, the horror!) admit they were… wrong. J. Posted by: JLL3 It’s not the flip-flopping, it’s the two-facedness. Kerry gets all peevish and indignant about a remark from Cheney, accusing the Vice-President of fear-mongering, and then comes out with something like this. Kerry responds with sneered petulance to any question concerning the military record he has made the centerpiece of his campaign, while he simultaneously maintains a smear page on his website full of unsupported charges accusing the President with felonies regarding his military service. One of the left’s biggest problems is and has always been that they think they are soooooo smart that they believe everyone else is stupid in comparison. Seriously, go to a website like kosfiles and read the comments. They’re packed with references to the general knuckle-dragging stupidity of the People. It never occurs to them that folks could actually discern between the credibility of the SwiftVets, whose membership includes Kerry’s entire operational and administrative chain of command along with almost all of his peers from Vietnam, and whose charges are well-documented and consistent, versus the “group” Texans for Truth, whose charges against Bush are based solely on the hearsay of it’s only apparent “member.” To the elitist minds of the left, it’s simply not in the realm of possibility that the People could possibly tell the difference between the two. Hey leftists, here’s a clue for you: there’s more difference in intelligence between almost any two breeds of dog than there is between you and the stupidest person on Earth. :jackson Posted by: jackson zed Oh, Cap’n DOC’s post made me think of something. M79’s are classified as “Destructive Devices” under the National Firearms Act of 1934. They aren’t regulated under the Assault Weapons Ban, so you can in fact buy brand new M79s and have fun. Practice ammo is widly available as are some other neat things (rounds that shoot a bunch of .22 at the same time, flachettes, etc.). High Explosive is the only type that’s hard to get, but you can. It just takes paperwork. There’s a guy that makes them. Can’t remember his name. Nickname is Mr. 40mm. Posted by: Spade LOL. “There’s a guy that makes them. Can’t remember his name. Nickname is Mr. 40mm.” Yahhh. But does he supply the BandAids as accessories??? The italicized portion Posted by: Spade at September 11, 2004 12:30 PM Posted by: Cap'n DOC Cap’n DOC: NO! I just checked! No bandaids anywhere on Randy Shivak’s website! http://mr40mm.com/ Where’s John Kerry and Sarah Brady when you need them? I demand legislation requiring that all NFA registered destructive devices come equipped with band aids! Posted by: Spade What happened to the ‘plaid-shirt wearin’, just one-of-the-guys, shootin’ on weekends’ John Kerry? Oh, he stepped in front of a different audience. al Qaeda’s aim in all terrorist activity is always the Big Act, blowing up the World Trade Center, flying planes into the World Trade Center, shooting down 2 commercial airliners in the same half hour (attempted, but not successful). Who in their right minds thinks for a moment their big goal is to buy a lot of automatic weapons at a local gun shop (ever BEEN in a local gun shop?) and go shoot up the mall? To trade on these fears this close to 9/11 is despicable. But to feel shame, you must first feel humility - you have to realize your flaws as a human. John Kerry NEVER HAS and THAT’S the best reason to keep him out of the Oval Office I can think of. Posted by: torpedo_eight Post a comment
