Rasmussen:

Thursday September 02, 2004—The latest Rasmussen Reports Presidential Tracking Poll shows President George W. Bush with 49% of the vote and Senator John Kerry with 45%.

This is the first time that Bush has reached the 49% mark in the Tracking Poll since Kerry wrapped up the Democratic nomination on Super Tuesday (March 2). It’s also the first time Bush has been up by four points since April 26.

Shame it isn’t November 2; though, of course, Kerry could still fall further by then I suppose.

I know it isn’t over by a long shot, but this is beginning to look a lot like 1984 . . .

Rasmussen also reports Bush’s Approval Rating is now up to 54%, close to the highest (57%) he has enjoyed since January I believe. I believe Clinton was at 52% at a comparable time during his second term reelction campaign. Another poll shows Bush now up by 2 points in PA also.

It’ll be interesting to see how the speech plays out in Rasmussen’s daily poll for Friday and Saturday. I wonder how the gender trends will be playing in the polls? Wednesday’s speeches by Sen. Miller and the VP are considered by some to be too macho and angry and will turn off the women’s vote.

The Kerry campaign is reporting that they will kick off $50M in ads in selected battle ground states on Friday, also.
