Kerry | Mass. Republicans Eye Kerry's Senate Seat
AP: Mass. Republicans Eye Kerry’s Senate Seat Massachusetts Republicans, while supportive of President Bush (news - web sites)’s re-election, are mindful of the opportunity created should John Kerry (news - web sites) beat him in November’s election: the state’s first Senate vacancy in two decades and a chance to break the Democratic monopoly on its 12-member delegation in Congress. (Reposting — first one disappeared) Yes, the Rs are “eyeing” Kerry’s seat. So are the Ds, fwiw. That’s what the major parties do with newly opened seats. They “eye” them pretty much across the board. Whether or not they can launch an effective campaign for them remains for the future to decide. But just No Question About It — they do indeed “eye” them — each and every time. This is Not News. It’s probably the first time i have agreed with you. Maybe you will agree with this speculation of mine. Either he will melt away into his life of luxury with his money maid, or, she will tire of the looser and toss him out on the street. If that happens, he’ll probably move to north nam and run for leader there. He’d probably win too. He’s a hero there. Posted by: Grand Ayatollah Nathan GAN: There’s an important thing you need to learn about Politics — nothing and no one is Ever “finished” when viewed from before the fact. The times in which that has occurred are legion, the most notable one being RMN, who was “finished” several times before being elected president. Indeed, Kerry was “finished” weeks before the Iowa caucuses, and a funny thing happened on the way to the political grave. Probably more importantly, however, is that there really is Life After Politics. Folks do all sorts of genuinely useful stuff after losing an election or winning an office. Don’t be too premature with crowing about the end result of anything at all, when you’re doing it well before the fact. At the moment, the outcome of this election is not known and by no means a Sure Thing either way. Making such predictions is to look prematurely foolish. There will be plenty of time to look foolish after the election is over, on all sides. Posted by: Don Post a comment
