| Breaking: NJ Gov Jim McGreevey to Resign?

So an unnamed “longtime friend and political adviser” tells the AP. The AP report notes that the McGreevey - a Democrat whose sinking popularity has given some Republicans hope that President Bush could reclaim a state Al Gore won by 15 points - “has been dogged by several scandals involving fund-raising.”

Resigned.

“RENTON, N.J. - New Jersey Gov. James E. McGreevey announced his resignation Thursday afternoon, saying he had had an extramarital affair with another man that could leave the state government vulnerable to undue outside influences.

“My truth is that I am a gay American,” McGreevey, a Democratic former prosecutor who has seen several political aides and fund-raisers accused of corruption, said at a televised news conference.

“Shamefully, I engaged in adult consensual affairs with another man, which violates my bonds of matrimony,” said McGreevey, 47, the married father of two. “It was wrong. It was foolish. It was inexecusable.” “

Oh Jezzuuussss. The friggin writers for Saturday Night Live couldn’t have made up anything funnier than that.

Feel sorry for the family of this weasel. But hey, he’d been fu-kin’ his constituents all these years, what’s one more GUY.

What’s the deal with these democrats? You can lie and steal and stay in office. You can screw your secretary and stay married AND in office, but by God, you better not fu-k some guy in the a—, or you’ll be looking for a job. I guess this explains why gays are so committed to the liberal party. This is comforting though. It shows that there really is a limit to what a democrat can get away with.

He didn’t resign for being gay party, he resigned because he is about to get sued for harrassment, from what I understand.

Yeah:
“WABC-TV of New York reported that McGreevey was expecting a lawsuit by a former aide accusing him of sexual harassment. The station identified the former aide as Golan Cipel, who resigned as McGreevey’s security adviser in 2002 after months of questioning about his credentials and job qualifications.”

I was wondering why he would resign. Isn’t that why people are Democrats, so they can have affairs and get elected anyway?

Howsoon until someone blames this on Bush?

This is Bush’s fault. If he hadn’t lied to us about weapons of mass destruction this never would have happened.

Eight hours, thirteen minutes.
