Kerry | London Telegraph Picks Up "Christmas in Cambodia" Story

Following a by-now familiar pattern, charges that John Kerry has for years been repeating a false story about spending Christmas of 1968 on an illegal mission inside Cambodia (at a time when the United States was officially denying having troops inside Cambodia) have now spread from the blogosphere, the Drudge Report, conservative opinion sites and the New York Post and FOX News to the London Telegraph. The Telegraph also picks up the broader story of the charges made by the “Swift Boat Veterans for Truth.” It remains to be seen if the U.S. print media will follow suit, although the broader “Swift Boat Veterans for Truth” story has already been covered on TV by Nightline and The Daily Show.

Hey! I been in Cambodia! For all of about 10 minutes, max. Our Lt. got us lost, and boy did he get his ass chewed for it. I also remember Christmas - covered with turkey and fixin’s from about 15 feet off the deck. So much for a hot meal.

AFA this story? So the foreign press is picking it up? So what? Let me know when Le Monde carries it on the FrontPage.

WarHero… I think he created a MonsterBabyKiller all on his own.

I think the notion that the Daily Show and Nightline “covered” the SwiftBoat Vets story is being really generous. I watched both and they were largely dismissive of it — parotting the “they weren’t on his boat” Kerry camaign talking punt. The NightLine piece was particularly weak, since they’re supposed to be serious journalists. Unfortunately, the pom poms and stained cheerleading skirt gives them away.

Paula Zahn of CNN did about 10 minutes on the story the day after the ad hit the airwaves with two talking heads, one on each side. She played the whole ad as part of the show before she would let either comment. If that isn’t a fair hearing on the issue, I don’t know what it would be.

There’s been a lot of discussion about the Lucky Hat given to Kerry by an Unnamed CIA operative he supposedly ferried into Cambodia. The Kerry campaign may have found the CIA agent and has released this photo of the event.

I wonder if Kerry will ‘out’ him…

Shit, Kerry was absolutely indespensible, you’d think that his commanding officers would have absolutely begged him to stay in theatre. Give me a break.
