ACT and MoveOn PAC have teamed up to announce a series of concerts October 1-10 that will include approximately 34 shows in 28 cities in 9 states. Each show will each include multiple artists including Bruce Springsteen and the E-Street Band, Bonnie Raitt, Dave Matthews Band, Dixie Chicks, Jackson Brown, John Mellencamp, Ben Harper, Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds, Pearl Jam, R.E.M and others.

Tickets go on sale August 21.

Bill Bennet’s take on this during his morning talk show was very helpful to me.

Basically the sense that I got was that artists seems to do best when they are opposing the established order. It’s just the nature of art and artists.

While that helps me understand the psychology of this I still don’t relish the idea of my money supporting them.

Just as I do with actors who have to have their say, so now I get to cross a few names off my list for CD purchases as well.

It’s too bad, though some of these guys do good stuff. Oh well,

no doubt the fans will be of the young, impressionable sort. i hear aarp is looking to set up booths at the venues.
