Boston | Billionaires for Bush

Still at The Purple Shamrock (but not drinking … it is, after all, a weeknight). One of my interesting encounters tonight was with Billionaires for Bush, a sardonic parody organization that poses as rich people (think the little guy on Monopoly rich), walking the streets in finery (top hats, cigars, evening dresses) saying “Billionaires for Bush!” and handing out anti-Bush literature.

It was odd, seeing all these (primarily young) people, walking down the street as the faithful headed to the Fleet, wearing pearls and sequins, chanting “No billionaire left behind!” I spent some time talking with the person who seemed the leader to me, a more mature woman, trailing the main group in a smashing dress and crystal tiara. Here’s what I learned:

  • They had just marched to the RNC office, but received no reaction from the RNC faithful.
  • There are several hundred of them here. You know them when you see them. Again, think Monopoly guy.
  • Billionaires for Bush has chapters in multiple states.
  • Reaction has been very positive, and they’ve passed out “lots of literature.”
  • They will soon launch a “limo tour,” which will pass through all 50 states before arriving at the RNC in NYC this August.

Funny, the only billionaires that come to mind, are the ones trying to undermine Bush. So, how does this work? Do you suppose this falls under the same theory democrats have about lying? ‘When you are a liar, constantly accuse the honest, of being liars.’

It’s nice that they’re out recruiting children for their tired antics.

it would be a much better parody if it weren’t for bill gates, ted turner, george soros, donald trump, thk… or if you consider that 92% of all donors that gave more than $1 million dollars in 2002 gave it to the democratic party…

Good luck trying to awaken these liberal fux. In fact, who’d want to. Keep them the hell away from me.

Wafflestomper, like I said, “If the billionaires support your french liberal socialist agenda, shout at the top of your lungs that they support the Americans.”

If the media is on your side, you got it made.

With the Democratic Convention slowly going down in flames because no one is watching. And the Mrs Heinz came off as the weirdo foreign boob that she is. This convention is the best tonic for those who still believe there is some common sense and values left in our country. Watching it really gets the blood boiling from these radicals…there are no normal Democrats left from the party of my parents and grandparents. Now days they most certainly would be Republican, and be disgusted by the likes of Dean, Gore, and how did the docs miss that stem cell Ron Reagan who disses his fathers legacy. Shame on that piece of crap.

Could this possibly strike a ring of truth with the general centrist population? Nobody profited more from the Bush tax cuts than billionaires, thus the political message hits home.

Sorry, I know a logical explanation has no place in this discussion. Carry on.

When I heard Billionares for Bush I thought “Poor Kerry, even his wife is against him”.

These folks are doing Bush no harm. They may even be doing him some good.

Dave

Your comments really show general ignorance about Bush’s tax cuts. Thousands and thousands of small businesses benefited greatly from the Bush tax plan. Most of the cuts I’m familiar with were capped in such a way that the very large and very rich couldn’t benefit from them nearly as much as small to mid sized businesses. A couple I’m not very familiar with are the estate tax and dividend tax, but the super rich never paid estate taxes anyway(think corporations and trust funds). LLC formations are off the charts. This is what the Bush tax plan was supposed to do. Stimulate small business and employment by those, and from where I sit it’s working beautifully. The past three years have been markedly improved in the Ag and manufacturing sectors, which badly needed a boost. Ag was the red headed step child under Clinton and the 90’s were pure hell down on the farm. Nope, I’ll vote Bush.

Dave:

If you’re so concerned with how much tax relief the “rich” get, why don’t we cut the FICA by 1%. Since maximum FICA contribution is capped it will not benefit “rich” people at all.

Submandave,

That is a truly GREAT idea that deserves bi-partisan support! I’d appreciate it if you’d pass it on to Emperor Bush.

I’m afraid it won’t get too far, though, since your proposal would deplete the Social Security surplus that Divine Decisionmakers and Congressmen of both Corporate parties routinely steal from to keep the goverment pork flowing to their fatcat friends and home districts.
