| al Jazeera to Cover Conventions

Or, as the New York Post headline says: ALL THAT JAZEERA AT CONVENTIONS

Al-Jazeera, the Arab news network, will cover both the Republican and Democratic national conventions alongside other major TV networks for the first time.
“They will be treated the same as all other media,” RNC spokesman Lenny Alcivar told The Post yesterday, adding the Qatar-based satellite channel will be issued press credentials and a skybox just like CBS, NBC, ABC, Fox and CNN for the late August convention at Madison Square Garden.

Al-Jazeera will have similar access in Boston next week at the Democratic convention, according to the Boston Herald.

I think a good angle for the bloggers going to the conventions (including Alan and myself) will be to cover the people covering the stories. It might be more interesting than the speeches.

Why is the Terrorist network allowed in the U.S. at all?

Will the al Jazeera staff be searched regularly? They have camera cases that have concealed bombs in the West Bank and In Iraq. They can conceal very dangerous C-5 explosives.

Remember that an exploding camera killed the Leader of the Afghan resistance just before 9-11.

Since it has been revealed that al-Jazeera’s prime funding sources are Terrorist connected, this seems like a Trojan horse way of killing people.

These people will be heavily searched, I hope ????
If not, this would be TOTAL STUPIDITY.

a Typo … I meant plastic explosives NOT C-5

If a terror attack is being planned for the conventions (best to assume one is), someone absolutely needs to follow their staff around. Put lots of cameras on their cameras (video and still), sound men and reporters.

Are you kidding? I have a feeling that al-Jazz going thru security at the convention is going to be like the scene from “Airplane!” where the granny is thrown against the wall and frisked while the bad guys go thru the metal detector carrying machine guns, bandoliers, Stingers, RPGs….

Exactly Mona.

The most usual suspects aren’t searched for fear of “violating their rights” or “racial profiling”. It may be a racist and insensitive thing to think but it is also a very risky thing to be doing.

What page of the book on political correctness did this idea come from?…..I don’t know how as a nation wa can allow this to go on much longer. When will America stop apologizing to the rest of the world for her greatness?? When will America stop setting itself up for this abuse and stand tall??

It is Ture that all Al qaeuida videos are Published through al Jazeera…….but the reason for that is that the only widley spread viewd news channel that speak in arabic and that is the language that terrorists uses…..not because it funds terrorism .and as much as the Us system is critisized in Al Jazeera All systems in the middle east is Critisized also ,
I remember that al Jazeera was banned in Egypt for some times as it discussed human rights violations practices in Egypt. I see Al Jazeera as a Total Independent news channel that has nothing to do with terrorism Exept they speak the same language
