| New LOWV Report On "Safeguarding The Vote"

The League of Women Voters has issued a new report titled Helping America Vote: Safeguarding the Vote. The report “outlines a set of recommended operational and management practices for state and local election officials to enhance voting system security, protect eligible voters and ensure that valid votes are counted.” Policy and practice wonks may see the report here (PDF file).

The FL election officials have already attempted to circumvent such matters. These recommendations have, after all, been promulgated more than two years ago by at least three, arguably four, “Election Reform” national commissions.

One of my best friends chaired one of them, in fact.

Reports are good.

Counting The Votes is better.

Ensuring that those who legally Can vote and have their vote counted is best.

Don: Look here.

The voters voted. The votes were counted. When Gore’s team filed suit to prevent Katherine Harris (an elected official) from certifying the tally, they essentially were thwarting the will of the people.

Don’t try to give us that crap about the “Florida election machinery.” It didn’t fly then; it won’t fly now.

G3:

What you are referring to eludes me. I didn’t mention the stuff you are bringing up here.

The attempt by the FL election officials to come up with a list of folks who could Not vote this year has already been withdrawn. It was flawed, and would have forbidden qualified voters from voting. They are re-doing it again.

Do stay with the subject, whenever possible. And watch that patella twitch — it leads you astray.

Perhaps, Don, if you spent more time and energy clearly formulating and communicating your point as opposed to finding ways to sound like a condescending rectum, people would be better able to appreciate your as-of-yet undisplayed brilliance.

And perhaps if y’all just stuck to the instant matter under discussion, you’d be a Lot less het up about non-germane things you just feel you Must get into.

Your choice. I’m indifferent altogether.

Mock all you want, but your post was poorly written and did not clearly convey the event in Florida to which you apparently intended to refer. But why let something trivial like clearly making your point get in the way of sucking yourself off at the keyboard by talking down to everybody?

It’s always a major problem in communication — you can say something straightforwardly, and someone Out There will interpret it howeverthehell They want to.

Nothing I said mentioned 2000. You supplied that your own personal self.
