Boston | Boston Credentialling SNAFU

How to introduce this one :

Never attribute to Malice what is adequately explained by Incompetence
Napoleon Bonaparte

Perhaps? Or possibly :

I belong to no organized party : I am a Democrat.
Will Rogers

Not-exactly-Left-of-Centre Bloggers John Tabin and Bill/INDC Journal are now reporting that their previously confirmed press credentials have been cancelled.

Spoiling what promised to be a rattling good conspiracy theory, not-exactly-right-wing-blogger Justin Nawrocki also reports he was credentialled before he wasn’t credentialled.

I know commentary is reserved for the Op-Ed page, but there’s one good Aussie saying that inevitably comes to mind when viewing this situation from here in far-off Australia:

“They couldn’t organise a piss-up in a Brewery.”

More details at The American Spectator. And the ‘SNAFU’ description is not mine, it’s the DNCC’s own words. But that often happens when you have the courage to do something for the first time.

I can’t say how excited I was to be able to join fellow bloggers at the DNC to take the time and offer a more individual approach to media coverage. I found it especially odd that the letter authorizing me as part of the press was hard copy. The revocation notification was a simple email. The entire situation reeks of disorganization, but no one ever said it was easy to keep such an enormous event as the DNC from having occasional mishaps. I did consider calling the organization to make sure that the email wasn’t some sort of spoofed fake, but with other reports coming in, I unfortunately have to admit defeat.

The real question I wonder is: was my content not democratic enough? Did I not bash George Bush enough or spout on the virtues of John Kerry enough? johntabin.com mentions that it’s supposedly not that. I wonder…

I’m expecting fun to be had by all in Boston. I’ve been following the anarchist boards and the anti-DNC moonbat orgs, and they are making some serious plans.
Two of the most interesting are trying to infiltrate the innumerable minimum-wage workers who will be at the convention with saboteurs.
Another is for small cells to occupy corporate offices in far-flung parts of the city, so that if the police start to concentrate to put down demonstrations, the troublemakers start smashing lots of office equipment.
They figure that the police are far more motivated to protect property than to protect ordinary citizens or otherwise keep order—and will be ordered to leave the convention area to stop the expensive vandalism.
Interesting theory.
