2004 US Presidential Election
July 01, 2004
| ACT Targets Ohio
America Coming Together is investing heavily in voter registration efforts in Ohio. America Coming Together, an independent political group opposing the re-election of President Bush, has focused its early get-out-the-vote efforts most heavily in Ohio by spending at least $1.1 million over a six-month period and hiring more than 700 people, says a report on the group’s activities. Voter turnout in marginal seats is the key to any election. Sadly I dont think Kerry has enough balls, charm or brains to get people off their lazy arses and into the polling booth. Bush by a narrow margin on a 45% turnout. Posted by: westcountry at July 1, 2004 10:39 AM I live in Ohio and to me things are pretty well polarized. The lake erie region from Cleveland west to sandusky are pretty solid democratic seats. This is where that nitwit Kuchinich gets his base. In fact I was in his district last night, buying cigars. Lakewood, a nearby suburb of Cleveland is like Ohio’s answer to Bezerkly. I saw a bumper sticker that said: Eat people, not animals. See what I mean? The next district west is also solid union dues paying democrat as is my district. yet at the state level the republicans have control. It’s a typical gerrymander: they packed the democrats into a handful of safe seats and divied up the rest. What is amazing is how the economy has impacted the Cleveland area. It’s good news everyday, but nobody seems to notice. The steel mill, which was on the verge of shut down just two years ago is putting new shits and adding new production facilities. This week the port authority announced that there’s been a twenty percent increase in shipping into and out of cleveland as raw material pour in and steel gets shipped out. Things haven’t been this good in a long, long time. but as I said, I’m not sure anybody notices. Posted by: skip at July 1, 2004 11:00 AM “Eat people, not animals. See what I mean?” Yes, skip — I see what You mean, but do you see what They mean? I fear you are terminally satirically challenged. I do know that the pink haired, pierced and tatooed crack hag that was driving the car was a joke. Posted by: skip at July 1, 2004 12:12 PM Both sides can find interesting talking points in these Poll numbers! Posted by: leaddog2 at July 1, 2004 01:10 PM ‘America Coming Together, an ***independent*** political group ‘ ‘Democrats are getting substantial help in their get-out-the-vote efforts from groups like ACT’ Heh? Posted by: fersboo at July 1, 2004 02:05 PM an independent political group These two things are mutually exclusive. If they express any opinion at all regarding how people should (or shouldn’t) vote, they aren’t independent. At least they aren’t a non-profit. Posted by: gus3 at July 1, 2004 03:55 PM When will people realize that there is no such thing as ‘Independant, centrist, moderate, whatever?’ It’s 99.99% the case that anyone giving themselves that label is a lefty.
