Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry canceled plans on Sunday to address a U.S. mayors conference this week at a hotel that is likely to be ringed by picketing police officers.

“I don’t cross picket lines. I never have,” Kerry said at Our Lady of Good Voyage church in South Boston, where he attended Mass on Sunday evening.

Asked if Kerry and representatives of the U.S. Conference of Mayors would meet somewhere that police were not picketing, Kerry spokesman David Wade said: “We don’t have any information on that yet.”

Kerry had been scheduled to speak on Monday morning at the Sheraton Boston Hotel, where police officers — who have been working without a contract for two years — had a picket line on Saturday. Kerry would upset unions across the country if he crossed a picket line.

On the radio (96.9, Boston) it said that Governor Mitt Romney has already volunteered to take Kerry’s place there . . .

Not sure Kerry wants to make this a hard and fast rule as his convention site still has picketers in front of it . . .

This could be interesting, to say the least. If the strike isn’t settled then perhaps the democrats en masse will decline to cross the picket line. Maybe instead of actually going to the convention hall they’ll skip that part and go directly to drinking and whoring.

What a country.

I liked that skip! And if there is no convention, Will Kerry be the Presidentail canidate for the Demonrats? Maybe that is why Gore is being so flaky. Maybe he wants to try again, and he’s going after the Deaniacs. All bets are off in a brokered convention. Was it Pierce that got the nomination on the umpteenth go-around because everybody hated him less then somebody else? What a fooked up way to run a country. It’s a pity the other ways are even worse.

You are forgetting, this was the first picket line, the next one he changes his mind!

This is a little off topic but. Am I right on Kerry’s military record, 4 years active, 4 years inactive reserve, 4 years active.
