Edwards | Kerry Has Secretive Meeting With Edwards
AP: Kerry Has Secretive Meeting With Edwards Sen. John Kerry held a brief, secretive meeting with potential running mate John Edwards, a spur-of-the-moment session in the Capitol that capped an unusual day of hurry-up-and-wait in the heavily scripted life of the Democratic presidential candidate. “Quiet and confidential”, except that 300 million of my closest countrymen know about this meeting and speculate about its signficance. Um, yeah, right, like, whatEVer! MG Posted by: MG at June 23, 2004 09:51 AM Could the wishy washy shit from Kerry get any worse? Make a decision nuance boy! jeez. And on a lighter note. Posters over at Washington Monthly are hoping that Kerry “says his position on terrorrism is one thing but does another after he’s elected.” to broadly paraphrase. When is duplicited RESPECTED in a candidate. Hell they are HOPING that Kerry’s lying to them. Axis of weasels indeed. Chads Posted by: Chads at June 23, 2004 10:09 AM OT AP is suing for Bush’s guard records, but not for Kerry’s, although there’s questions about how Kerry actually got three purple hearts (his ticket to leave Vietnam early) considering his commander wouldn’t okay the first one. http://www.navyseals.com/community/articles/article.cfm?id=3876 Posted by: thetroopersfriend at June 23, 2004 10:39 AM “Posters over at Washington Monthly are hoping that Kerry “says his position on terrorrism is one thing but does another after he’s elected.” to broadly paraphrase. Posted by: welland at June 23, 2004 11:06 AM I looked through that link and found this Dear Abby letter. “Dear Abby, I am a crack dealer in Beaumont, Texas who has recently been diagnosed as a carrier of HIV virus. My parents live in Fort Worth and one of my sisters, who lives in Pflugerville, is married to a transvestite. My father and mother have recently been arrested for growing and selling marijuana. They are financially dependent on my other two sisters, who are prostitutes in Dallas. I have two brothers, one is currently serving a non-parole life sentence at Huntsville for the murder of a teenage boy in 1994. My other brother is currently in jail awaiting charges of sexual misconduct with his three children. I have recently become engaged to marry a former prostitute who lives in Longview, She is a part time “working girl”. All things considered, my problem is this. I love my fiance’ and look forward to bringing her into the family. I certainly want to be totally open and honest with her. Should I tell her about my cousin who supports John Kerry for President? Signed, Worried About My Reputation” Posted by: hound at June 23, 2004 11:13 AM Now, now. Let’s be fair. I seem to remember Mr. Bush’s search for a VP in 2000. If you recall, that was a real ‘roller coaster’ as well, less we forget McCain and the group of hopefuls and contenders for that position. On being fair, as for Kerry and/or his supporters hoping he campaigns on certain issues one way, and then goes another way when elected — I remember an awful lot of that very same scenario occuring on conservative website message boards as well. A lot of ‘soul searching’ going on then. As for the “Dear Abby” BS, garbage like that alienates moderates and independents, and does your candidate a real disservice. Sheesh. This could be a Limbaugh blog-rag. Posted by: Indie2004 at June 23, 2004 12:41 PM welland Look harder It’s all through the threads. Most of them don’t say exactly that. The Gist of it is they don’t beleive what he’s saying but that’s O.K. because he’s sure to be better than Bush. Chads Posted by: chads at June 23, 2004 01:40 PM I still can’t give your argument any leverage, Chads, mainly because I see it coming from both sides. If you agree with Kerry (and/or the Dems) on a majority of the issues, you WILL think that he will be better than Bush in defining and taking the general path you’d like to see taken in our country. If you agree with Bush (and/or the conservative GOP) on a majority of the issues, you would have thought he’d be better than Gore (and McCain) back in 2000. In other words, most voters do not agree on every issue with the candidate they choose to support, but are willing to compromise because they believe the ‘direction’ the candidate will take them in is more along the lines of the direction they want. However, there are some ‘sheeps’ in both parties who do not even pay attention to the issues, but are willing to vote for their candidate because he or she is a represenative of their party. And then there are the ‘the one issue voters’ who vote only for those candidates who support their issue. I believe most non-extremist voters — moderates, centrists and independents — vote mainly for the candidate they see as taking them in the direction they’d like to go. Posted by: Indie2004 at June 23, 2004 03:56 PM Indie2004 The problem with Kerry is that he seems to go in no particular direction at all. I mean, I don’t think anybody know where he stands on much of anything. Even some of the Liberal voters seem to be commenting on this. Surely he will get around to building a platform sooner or later, but, you know what, with all the hell Bush has caught he’d better prepare to get plastered if he trys to double back. Chads Posted by: chads at June 23, 2004 05:31 PM I agree with you on Kerry’s need to better define his platform, and more importantly, get it ‘out there.’ If I were a democrat, he would not have been my first choice. If I were a republican in 2000, Bush would not have been my first choice. The circumstances of this election year, for me, are the same as 2000. So my decision will be based on “direction.” Posted by: Indie2004 at June 23, 2004 06:22 PM Post a comment
