Never ever thought this could be news. “Nominee Accepts Nomination at Convention”.

This Kerry is one Ball of Fire, isn’t he?

I would make a comment about Kerry playing games, but the election finance laws seem to have been constructed by Capuchin Monkeys on Acid, and I find that I could care less who does what in regards to spending money.

It doesn’t matter. The candidates could spend a billion or they could spend zero, and it wont matter, because this election is going to be decided on events.

If the economy keeps growing and if Iraq manages to stand on it’s own two feet, Bush will get re-elected.

If those things don’t happen, he will not.

If there is a major terrorist attack, Bush wins on the anger issue. Americans watched Spain pull out after 3/11, and they watched Osama gloat about influencing the election.
It doesn’t even matter that Spain pulled out for different reasons than most people think she did.
It’s all about perception.

The financial differential that Kerry will need to battle Bush will now have to come from the Democratic Parties National and State coffers.

Less money to fight Senate and Congressional races with. A HUGE BONUS for the Republican Party in those races. Possibly a Democratic President with a 2/3rds. opposition in both Houses of Congress. The Ultimate Lame Duck.

But, then………………Do you think, in you’re most lurid political fantasy, that Democratic National Chairman Terry McCauliff, who was handpicked by the Clinton’s, would adaquitely fund the candidate that, should he win, ends the opportunity for Hillary Clinton to run until 2012?

There is an upside to Kerry’s change (if this is correct). Money that would have gone to Kerry can now go to local democratic races.

Conversely the Bush campaign had originally targetted 170$ million for its campaign and now is looking to exceed 200$million. The RNC was hoping that Bush could be a republican chearleader making campaign stops and fundraising appearances in local races but his craping out in the polls has put the Kibosh on that plan- he’s sucking up all the money and local polls dont want to be seen campaigning with him. Bush also seems to have a huge organization to feed. It sounded like Bush was spending 30$ million plus per month before TV advertising! just on his campaign staff! That means 75million for september and october will not be much of a media buy at all…

As for the notion that Bush will win if there’s a terrorist attack- I dont agree, I think more likely they’ll turn against him becouse invading Iraq was supposed to make us safer. Of course unlike spain- Bush wont get cought trying to blame homegrown terrorists….But this is just entirely speculation.

That’s another big decision of no consequence to anyone besides Kerry. Is this a preview of the Kerry Admininstration.

I expect that the idea was floated with the public with the intention of seeing how people would respond. The public said no way, so the idea was scrapped. Anyone with a clue knows that Kerry would have had no problem with going the unethical route had the public responded differently. Another bang-up job on the part of the DNC. One wonders how any of that clown act got to where they are.
