Kerry | NC poll show Edwards Could Be the Right One

The AP is reporting (via Yahoo!News) that a poll of 625 potential North Carolina voters showed that while only 41% would vote for Kerry alone, 48% would vote for Kerry were Edwards on the ticket, making the race a dead heat. Of course, this isn’t really all that surprising seeing as Edwards is a North Carolinian.

A Lieberman/Edwards ticket might have been pretty appealing.

I could even have voted for it.

But…

The Demo-Dumbasses are so obsessed with “Getting Bush” that they have lost sight of the fact that the race for the presidency is supposed to be about competing ideas and visions for the future, not about “Getting” the incumbent.

Based on my liberal co-workers and their remarks regarding the presidential race, this seems to be the case. This attitude will not get them elected. In fact, it may well backfire and find the Republicans handing them their ass. Republicans made similar mistakes in the 1996 election. They didn’t have a real platform of any kind, and a number of Republicans simply wanted Clinton out. BTW, Dole’s military service record didn’t help him very much even though Clinton had no service record (and he was accused of being a draft dodger just like Bush was). Based on this, Kerry should let go of the Vietnam thing, give up the “anybody but Bush” idiocy, and discuss some serious issues. Fat chance of any of that happening, though.

Another Poll …. This one from New Jersey.

Yahoo News

TRENTON, N.J. - Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry (news - web sites) is slightly ahead of President Bush (news - web sites) in a poll of registered voters in New Jersey, a state that Democrat Al Gore (news - web sites) won in 2000 by almost 16 percentage points.

If the democrats were smart, they’s run Zell Miller for President.

With regards to Dole in 1996, I voted for the man because I happen to believe character does count. However, I would agree that he wasn’t the best choice at all. In fact, he was a more respectable Senate Majority Leader than a presidential candidate. As for Zell Miller, the Dems would never be that smart because Miller doesn’t cow-tow to their Almighty God of Abortion & Other Degeneracies. I would have to say thought that Miller for president would give me serious pause before voting for Bush. Heck, I’d vote Democrat for the likes of him…

Do not forget the somewhat recent poll that has Kerry ahead by a single point in California. California and New Jersey should be solid Kerry states and he will have to spend time and money to ensure he carries them.

It will also be interesting to see what the moonbat parade protesting outside the Republican convention in NY has on the local. Normally when the puppet show hits the streets Republican poll numbers go up.
