2004 US Presidential Election

| Meet Vietnam Veteran John Kerry
Senator John Kerry’s campaign for president will begin airing biographical ads this week in key states, aiming to introduce the four-term Senator to the voters. To fend off attacks by his Republican rivals; As evidence he will fight to expand healthcare; As evidence he understands the complicated landscape in Iraq; To explain his love of peanut butter-and-jelly sandwiches.’ Posted by Karol at May 2, 2004 06:44 PM | TrackBack Comments
This is truly amazing. I wasn’t aware John Kerry had managed three consecutive sentences in the past year and a half without invoking his Vietnam service. Posted by: marymcl at May 2, 2004 08:10 PM Vietnam, hey. Did he win any medals or anything? Posted by: jones at May 2, 2004 09:31 PM Whats this about medals? I thought Kerry turned those back in a long time ago, while muttering something about not deserving them or something like that?! Its kinda funny, but I tend to believe the ABC announcer who saw him whip those medals over the fence, than Kerry bellowing..NO CHARLIE, NO CHARLIE THATS NOT TRUE! What a wimpy bastard this guy is….he’s gonna stink up what once was a proud and thoughtful party…..but he will continue the ruination of the over the top Kennedy’s, Pelosi’s, Daschle’s, and McDermotts of the world. Speaking of that….If I gave a quiz, asking the question….. IF A CONGRESSMAN STOOD UP IN CONGRESS AND SAID THE PLEDGE WITHOUT THE WORDS “”UNDER GOD””, WHICH PARTY DOES HE REPRESENT? I think even our liberal educated kids would get that one right by over 95%…just goes to show ya how bizarre that party now is….this election will be a huge victory of liberalism, and many of the past gains of the Democrats are going to be wiped out…and I say….ITS ABOUT TIME….a baby is a baby….and when one of the ‘CHOICE’s’ is to kill…thats not a proper choice! Lets flush em! Posted by: DickD at May 2, 2004 10:48 PM i served in vietnam!!! hey guys i served in vietnam!! check this out, i have a great wife I SERVED IN VIETNAM! my chin is huge! i served in vietnam!!!! oh wait i’m frickin worthless… :( but but i served in vietnam Posted by: jkerry at May 2, 2004 11:19 PM he was a vietnam vet, although it is unclear which side he helped more — I like to call him “Nguyen Kerry” Posted by: hound at May 3, 2004 06:36 AM I must be missing something. Isn’t his vietnam experience something he’s deeply ashamed of? Isn’t that what he told congress in the ’60s? Posted by: Brian at May 3, 2004 08:12 AM Lets not forget the Purple Heart 3 vanity plates. As a Bush supporter, I am kinda embarassed for Senator Kerry, watching anyone implode in a puff of “I was in Viet Nam when…” banter is rather sad. Kerry must be suffering from PVNS ’ post Viet Nam syndrome” like one suffers from eating the food down in Mexaco. Posted by: Minnesota Mike at May 3, 2004 10:12 AM Hmm… I don’t recall this helping Bob Dole, despite the fact that he suffered debilitating wounds in Italy during WWII…. But I suppose Kerry’s got more Purple Hearts than Dole. “It’s Bob Dole, examining his hand. He touches thumb to pinkie. “I have good feeling in this little finger,” he says, patting the end. He jumps to the next finger, the ring finger, testing it for sensation, coaxing it open to the first knuckle. “. . . And about half of this finger. The radial nerve, or something, is damaged.” His palm closes. End of inventory: 1 1/2 good fingers. The rest move freely, but are numb. They feel prickly, like sandpaper scratching cement. This is Dole’s good hand. The other one, his right hand, is useless.” http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/national/longterm/campaign/dole/hand.htm Posted by: KH at May 3, 2004 12:07 PM Good for Kerry. He served, Bush didn’t (well, he probably served drinks to ambitious secretaries, and he got served with a DUI), the end. Now, if any other veteran were to talk about getting a Purple Heart, all the KAD’s would get all ‘thank you for serving’, ‘I salute you’ etc ad nauseum. But it’s Kerry and some guy calls tem vanity plates. He also has another, more important, medal. Posted by: Vince at May 3, 2004 02:27 PM I loved this one (from WSJ opinionjournal): The Mississippi River Gulf Outlet is a long way from the Mekong Delta, but it brought back memories for Democratic presidential hopeful and Vietnam War veteran John Kerry on Wednesday. Standing at the bow of a 25-foot power craft called “Fishing Magician” inspecting coastal erosion in southern Louisiana reminded Kerry of his days as commander of a Navy “swift” boat 35 years ago. “I looked out at the shoreline and I commented that parts of it looked a lot like the rivers and coastline that I went through in Vietnam,” the Massachusetts senator said. He told about 100 supporters sweltering in the heat on the banks of the Mississippi that he had spent a lot of time “in a habitat that looked a little like this” as a young Naval officer. He said the 50-foot gunboat he commanded was built “right here in Louisiana.” Posted by: samuelv at May 3, 2004 02:42 PM He served in VIETNAM? You don’t say! Posted by: Bostonian at May 3, 2004 02:53 PM James Taranto has been reminding people that Kerry served in Vietnam for more than a year - and for less than $25 million! He throws in the reminder that he’s French-looking for free. Posted by: Ross at May 3, 2004 06:02 PM Looks like his fellow budies from Nam are going to turn on him tomorrow. The ads will help define Kerry, the ads will work. Bush’s people want to talk about Kerry/Vietnam and a 20 year old throwing away ribbons. Ok, lets talk about Vietnam. Bush, correctly doesn’t want to talk about his entire youth (“they were just youthful indescretions” - i.e. a 32 year old cocaine user) Ok, lets talk about “pretending” - how about pretend WMD, a pretend turkey - (I won’t mention a pretend election victory) Unless there is an October surprise - Bush just can’t win. Who voted for Gore in 2000 that would vote for Bush now? A. no one! Bush has lost 2-5% of his support which he can’t get back. The swing voters disapprove and some of them hate Bush. Kerry is doing much better than Clinton at this time. Undecideds vote for challengers 5-1. I can’t wait to get our country back. Ha ha ha! It’s all true, you know it - Bush is going down just like his papa. Posted by: Dem Blue at May 3, 2004 07:59 PM My republican friends, I can sense your fear by the mocking of the bio ads. Posted by: hound at May 3, 2004 11:05 PM Dem Blue is so screwed up in his ideas of who the majority will be, that he hit his ‘Enter’ key THREE times….ain’t that a fricked up liberal for ya. Here’s my prediction Dem…..Kerry implodes….we find out Teresa is secretly married to Rosie O’dumbell. Democrats cheer this union and watch as Rosie is arrested after tryinig a late term abortion of her love child with Ted Kennedy. On the way home after a few drinks Ted runs off the road, but Rosie was not dead. She gets in the drivers seat and chases him down and runs him over. All she and the other Democrats could say was…’George Bush did it’….and ‘oh yeah, we support our troops!’…..HA HA May Allah poop in their soup …the dumb bastards! Posted by: dickD at May 3, 2004 11:13 PM President Bush is NOT talking about JFK’s medals/ribbons. That would be ABC, Good Morning America. Do you agree with JFK that ABC is part of the Republican “Attack Machine?” Come on folks, think hard… Let’s focus on the UN control of our military. Let’s focus on the UN “Arms for Palaces and Billions for Bureaucrats” program. Do you agree with JFK that we need to put the UN back in charge? That sounds like something we used to call an “Issue” Maybe JFK will address “Issues” or is he just going to whine, “Mommy, pay for more ads” “Tell me who I am” Is Heinz 57 a “Benedict Arnold” corporation? Why doesn’t he think before he spouts this BS? Let’s focus on raising taxes on the “rich,” as in, people with jobs, The Democrats always raise taxes on everyone then the rich don’t pay anything. That’s why his lovely wife won’t release her IRS records. Hers look like another liberal who is going to raise taxes on the “rich” Arianna Huffington. She paid zero, nada, zip, wrote off her Lincoln Limo w/chauffer, $12,000 worth of make up (she still looks like crap, $12,000 later) Arnold told her “Arianna you have so many loopholes, I can drive my Hummer through them” Well, I have a job, my wife has a job, I don’t need to pay more taxes for welfare, illegals, affirmative action. Remember, Calif is bankrupt, but if we didn’t pay welfare, food stamps, free rent, free medical care and free education for illegals, we would have a surplus. Let’s also talk about SUV’s I like my full sized truck. How many does JFK own (oh I forgot, they are his family’s not his) yet he tells us he’s an environmentalist?? Does he have Steven Spielberg do his special affects? Is he really going to shut down America’s car industry? Why does he drive a Land Rover? What about energy independence? What about clean burning coal? How many American (union) jobs would that provide? What about ANWR and those caribou hiding and breeding under the pipeline? How many American (union) jobs would that provide? What about building a new refinery in the US in the last 15-20 years? OR do you prefer to buy refined gas products from the lovely Arabs? Balance of Trade? Terrorism? What about inner city minority children who want an education so they can compete without the insult of racial quotas? Isn’t the problem there, the Teacher’s Unions? the keystone of the Democratic Party??? Don’t black people favor the voucher over 75% They know their kids are getting screwed. Look at the black leaders starting their own private schools, Marva Collins, Crenshaw Christian Center Price Academy, John Perkins Harambee Academy. Or does John Kerry just feel blacks really are inferior. Isn’t that why he doesn’t have any on his campaign staff. What about GWBush? His “failed foreign policy” is run by, Colin Powell and Dr. Rice, my goodness, black people. What about his Secretary of Education who called the Teachers Unions terrorists, my goodness, a black man. What about the State Department Asst Secretary for Western Hemisphere, Roger Noriega and the “failed policy toward Haiti” (which is identical to Clinton’s, but Clinton was a success, Bush a failure). What about the Democrat Congresswoman who called the foreign policy a “White Man Foreign Policy” yet is run by Colin Powell, Dr. Condoleeza Rice, and Roger Noriega, oh my goodness, a Mexican American. Isn’t that a perfect example of “White Man Foreign Policy??” She replied, “You all look alike to me” Why is it that ALL the smart minorities are ALL Republicans?? ooops, I forgot the Rev Jackson and Sharpton, and Maxine Waters… Come on folks!! Sorry, JFK, not this voter. I used to be a Democrat. I didn’t leave the Party, the Party left me. I don’t agree with the Left that Pat Tillman was just a dumb jock (3.8 gpa) who got what he deserved. msnbc is a real piece of work with that cartoon. This election will be a great opportunity to see the difference between the Parties. Posted by: JoeS at May 3, 2004 11:34 PM Another thing. I hate Bush, I admit it (I think he’s a lying SOB) but I don’t hate Republicans. The Democrats I know are the same. Unfortunately I meet more and more Republicans that don’t just disapprove or hate Kerry - they hate Democrats or anyone who doesn’t support Bush - a lot like the people posting in this forum. I wonder why? Posted by: Dem Blue at May 4, 2004 03:40 AM Dem Blue: 1. When posters in this forum write Democrat they are most often making reference to the Democratic leadership. Though it should be said that there are some ordinary members of the party who are ripe for a punch in the throat. Not many, but a few. I’m sure the same could be said for the Republican party as well. In fact, I know a few of them. 2. As far as the pretend turkey goes you should probably stop listening to “Democracy Now”, stop hanging out at Indymedia, and cast your gaze a little wider as it is well established that the turkey was in fact a real dead turkey. 3. As far as WMD are concerned look to Syria my friend (and recently in Jordan) + Saddam was in material breach of the ceasefire in a number of ways and Iraq was in many respects “more dangerous than we had thought” as David Kay testified to congress and as is documented extensively in his written report. 4. Who’s gonna vote for Bush this time that didn’t last time? I am. (I wrote in McCain ‘cause I just couldn’t bring myself to vote for someone who seemed so stupid at the time.) What changed? 9/11/01. It changed my perception of the seriousness of who holds the office, it changed America’s priorities in both domestic and foriegn policy, and Bush’s response: Pakistan- courting and winning Musharraf, Afghanistan- deposing the Taliban and hammering Al-Qaeda, Iraq- deposing Saddam and not settling for a benevolent dictator to “stabilize the region” but insisting on a true liberal democracy despite the political costs at home and the costs in American blood and treasure, Sudan- pushing president Omar Bashir to sue for peace with the rebels (SPLF) in the south (Dahrfour, in the west of Sudan, is next), Lybia- not turning a cold shoulder to the tentative hand offered by Khomieni (a well known terrorist and sponser of terror who was personally responsible for a number of American deaths) and securing the end of WMD programs, including a shockingly advanced nuclear program, and breaking up the nuclear black market run by the Pakistani head of nuclear weapons research. It may be the case that few Americans are aware of the astounding number of foriegn policy successes that this administration is responsible for, but everyone who understands the sea-change that occurred in ‘01 and what it represents in dangers and challenges for our country will simply not be able to consider Kerry seriously for Commander-in-Chief. I probably haven’t changed your mind about Bush, as your paranoid suggestion that if world events that favor Bush happen late in the campaign this would constitute some pre-arranged “October Surprise”. But consider this; What if George Bush is sincere? What if this isn’t about oil or big powerful business interests trying to take over the world through massive profits? What if the world is actually pretty much what it appears to be and there are no secret cabals in back rooms running the world, but only inept beauracracies like the U.N., the E.U., and the U.S. state department, and normal human beings like George Bush, Tony Blair, and John Kerry trying to come up with solutions for problems that are almost too big to see? And what if it just happens that the junior Senator from Massachusettes is just plain deluded? I think when most people go to the voting booth this is what they are thinking about and this is what motivates their vote. And if I’m right, I don’t see how people will take Kerry’s vague alusions to bringing in the “international community” and rolling back the “War on Terror” to the “law enforcement” approach we used in the 1990’s seriously. I could be wrong, but I don’t see how. Posted by: Kerry Is Unelectable at May 4, 2004 05:29 AM Unelectable, A good post. You are probably correct. One minor typo, Kaddahifi (sp.) is Libya’s leader. Khomeni (from Iran) is eternally burning in Hell. Posted by: leaddog2 at May 4, 2004 06:30 AM dog, good catch, my bad. I hate it when I take so much time to say something well and then I go and undermine my cred by confusing one worthless shitbag with another worthless shitbag. Posted by: Kerrey Is Unelectable at May 4, 2004 06:46 AM What’s all this about Kerry serving in Vietnam? This is the first time I’ve heard him talk about it (sarcasm) Posted by: Moonbat_One at May 4, 2004 11:00 AM Unelectable, Again, nice post. I seriously doubt Dem Blue caught the error in Libyian/Iranian leaders anyway. Judging from the totally unconvincing arguement, lack of facts, unconnected thought process and general confusion about the world around him/her, no facts are going to stand in the way of that single-minded determination to avoid the bleak truth that is staring him/her straight in the mug… 1. In order for John Kerry to stand any kind of chance, he would have to go live on TV and say “look folks, George W is absolutely right. Ismalists want to destroy us, the UN is the Phantom Menance evil empire in the making, and the continental Europeans, lead by a prancing, puffed-up, postering France are not quite are enemies, but are now no longer with us. Here’s why you need to elect me: I will stay the course of the current administration because it is the proper course for America. However, I must say with all due respect to President Bush, I can do a better job. I am driven by the same love of America as you, but am not clouded by religious fervor, nor will I be paralyzed at the crucial moment (Falluja) by a divided adminstration. Mr. Bush, it’s the bottom of the 8th, you’ve had a nice game but we need leadership to take us home.” 2. Since that will never happen, Kerry will be as forgotten by early 2005 as that William Hung b*st*rd. Posted by: James at May 4, 2004 02:51 PM Yes, Moonbat_One, it’s true: John Kerry served in Vietnam. Isn’t that something? Posted by: Curt at May 4, 2004 05:43 PM “John Kerry served in Vietnam” Yes. The funny thing is, he served honorably in the Navy, but for all those years in the Senate, it’s a lot harder to find where he served much at all. He’s only attended 3 days in the Senate since declaring he was running. As for honor, what was it he called the Secret Service agent he ran over while snowboarding? Posted by: GDubya at May 5, 2004 10:09 AM Why John Kerry would destroy our great Country! 1. Kerry has already sold his soul to many different individuals and groups: Convicted criminals John Huang & Johnny Chung Clinton’s China-gate) Former executive of China Aerospace (a People’s Liberation Army (PLA) owned company) Lt. Col. Liu Chaoying. This company makes China’s nuclear missles. Convicted Election Fraud criminal Mark Jimenez Pushed a vote to say there are no more POW/MIA in Vietnam. This opened trading with the US and gave Colliers International, a company run by Kerry’s cousin a $900 Mill real estate deal. Pushed for Most Favored Nation Status for China…remember the campaign donations? Recommended at least three people for ranking positions at federal home loan banks just prior (sometimes the day before) receiving campaign contributions from those individuals. When a loophole was going to be closed that allowed American International Group to divery millions in federal money from a large construction project, Kerry blocked the legislation. American International Group then donated $30,000 to his tax exempt group and executived donated $18,000 directly to his campaign. and on, and on……. Kerry is emphatic about not “exporting jobs” but he cant get past the almighty dollar!: “Such holdings, through trusts Kerry inherited, account for a big part of his portfolio, at least $125,000 and as much as $650,000,” BusinessWeek reports. And “Teresa Heinz Kerry owns millions in stock in the Heinz Company, the ketchup and pickle empire. Of Heinz’s 79 factories, 57 are located outside North America, and 72 percent of its work force is offshore. John Kerry is, by his own logic, married to a woman implicated in acts of treason. Kerry’s defense of the nation from dastardly betrayal should begin at home.” http://www.newsmax.com/archives/ic/2004/5/4/92200.shtml Posted by: RedWhiteBlue4evr at May 5, 2004 11:15 AM But Kerry will stick up for the poor, unlike Bush. In fact Kerry signed a statement in 1995 saying his net worth was lesss than $35,000. Posted by: hound at May 5, 2004 12:06 PM Please have a look at my website.
