Kerry | Kerry Travels With Four Potential VPs
The Boston Globe is reporting that John Kerry has hit the campaign trail with four potential running mates:
Place your wagers now, and remember that you can’t tell the players without a scorecard. Posted by Alan at April 23, 2004 07:44 AM | TrackBack Comments
I’ve never heard of Sen. Bill Nelson. I had to google him to even give him a title… Posted by: Mitch H. at April 23, 2004 08:14 AM I think that Max Clelland should be his Veep. Max is a Vietnam vet who has earned a purple heart. His choice would strengthen Kerry’s main message that he served in Vietnam. Posted by: billhedrick at April 23, 2004 09:20 AM Before he faked an injury for his purple heart and got reassigned out? Posted by: Brian at April 23, 2004 09:54 AM I’m just saying, ‘cuz Kerry served in Vietnam doncha know? Posted by: billhedrick at April 23, 2004 11:29 AM bh, It took me a second then I almost did a spit take. Posted by: jones at April 23, 2004 01:23 PM My work here is done ;-) Posted by: billhedrick at April 23, 2004 03:10 PM Picking Max Clelland is the ‘expected’ thing to do for John Kerry. But, that move will not score any points. Who cares if he was in vietnam? So were tens of thousands of others. If John Kerry wants to be a little unpredictable he should choose John Edwards. John Edwards is from the South and he has that Swagger and Swoothness that is needed from your vice president candidate. John Edwards looks really, really, young even though he isn’t. That helps out a lot because Kerry looks like he crawled out of a Funeral Parlor. Posted by: Jeff MacMillan at April 23, 2004 11:41 PM Ah, Bob Graham, for the Florida stategy. Bob couldn’t win squat in the primaries. Why should that change as VP candidate? A no-brainer for me. Graham is out. Bill Nelson who? Now, Ed Nelson I might consider. I live in GA. Max Cleland on the ticket won’t help the ticket here. Short of a minor miracle, GA is Bush country. His disability and Vietnam credentials won’t help much. Vietnam is soooo yesterday. Again, a no-brainer for me. John Edwards…now that’s what I have said for a couple of months. The guy has appeal, spunk, and is likeable which maybe Kerry has a hard time being. My office mate, an avid Bush supporter, said she might support a Kerry-Edwards ticket, and I think hers is based on sexual attraction. Well, if that is how you get their votes, go for it. Edwards would look better in speedos than Cheney. Posted by: Roger at April 24, 2004 09:39 AM I find it interesting that BOTH of Florida’s current Senators are on this list. ????? (Nelson and Graham) Posted by: leaddog2 at April 24, 2004 12:20 PM I think Kerry will not pick Edwards. I think he reallt will attempt to win only Florida in the South. Also, I think his ego does not want Edwards. I think Sen. Nelson, out of those mentioned, would br his top pick. But it would leave an open senate seat that Republicans could take. Posted by: Sean at April 25, 2004 01:35 AM It would be a shame if Kerry does not pick Edwards. There must be some reason Edwards is seen as such a “vice-preidential” figure. I can’t help but think a K/E ticket would be powerful. People respect and look up to Kerry as a leader, something like a father. They think he’s strong and capable. Whereas they sort of ADORE Edwards; someone to warm up to and someone to inspire them. Someone to love, his two darling little ones too. There could be a problem with Mr. K’s ego though, right.
