2004 US Presidential Election
March 30, 2004
| Cheney AtTAX
Dick Cheney is going after Kerry on tax cuts, “portraying the Democratic presidential candidate as a chronic tax hiker whose pledges to maintain tax cuts for the middle class cannot be trusted.” (That line comes courtesy the Washington Post). If that’s not enough story for you, visit the New York Times. The Kerry response: That the administration had sprung Cheney from “an undisclosed location and brought him out to attack me.” Am I having fun yet? How is it that pointing out somebody’s record is wholly inconsistent with their current campaign stance is an “attack”? “Kerry is fleecing another rich wife” would be an attack. Pointing out that Kerry’s current position on taxes is inconsistant with his record is a fair point. And yet Kerry whines about attacks. For a decorated war hero, Kerry sure is a whining pussy. Try responding with some substance you fop! Posted by: TL at March 30, 2004 09:58 AM It’s an unfair attack because the current administration misrepresents Kerry’s record. http://archive.salon.com/politics/war_room/2004/03/23/taxgap/ Unfortunately, fudging the facts and then repeating them ad nauseam seems to have worked for the GOP before… Posted by: VoR at March 30, 2004 03:18 PM A simple Lexis Nexus Congressional Search can show anyone that the GOP is not lying about John Kerry’s own record. Even on Kerry.com, John Kerry admits that while he did vote for quite a few tax hiking that the 350 tax hike cited instances included sponsoring or voting for ‘lesser Tax Cuts’ or for keeping the tax the same when the Majority Party wanted to cut it. Check out Kerry.com’s own DBunker section. If John Kerry is out there admitting to what the GOP is citing, then I don’t care what links you drudge up. Posted by: Jeff MacMillan at March 30, 2004 03:27 PM When President Bush says, Voted for higher taxes 350 times, this indeed includes the ‘watered down’ voting and the refusing to vote for tax cuts. Why? Because in both scenarios the Senator here is voting for a tax rate that is HIGHER than the one proposed! If you don’t understand this then I can’t help you. But, common sense shows that the very people claiming the 350 is wrong are proving it is right! Posted by: Jeff MacMillan at March 30, 2004 03:31 PM Your comment leads me to suspect you’re in the “all-tax-is-inherently-bad” camp. If you are, Bush is your man. If you believe some measure of taxation is inevitable and the strongest shoulders should carry the heaviest load, Kerry is. Posted by: VoR at March 30, 2004 04:40 PM Rofl! Changing the subject are we? Posted by: Jeff MacMillan at March 30, 2004 05:29 PM I’m in the ‘Laffer Curve’ Camp. I am in the ‘Who in God’s Green Earth thinks it’s better to have your needs fulfilled by Government instead of Hard Work?’ camp. Hard works pays off. A lot of poor people accessing Government Programs are worse off than they would be if they got the education and motivation for hard work. Posted by: Jeff MacMillan at March 30, 2004 05:33 PM Sorry for the postings here. This is the last one I’ll make for this thread. I challenge any Liberal to come up and tell me and prove to me that they can not succeed through hard work. I challenge any liberal to tell me that they can not ‘freelance’ anything and succeed at creating their own business. I am (as we speak) in the process of developing a couple products of my own. When I get smart enough and get those products finished, I can go and sell them and make lots of money. I plan to do so. Liberals have a choice to make: 1) Welfare System: Jobless: Worthless: OR 2) Freelance something! Anything! Don’t know how or where to start? Talk to me! Or anyone else that has done the research. There is NO reason what so ever why LIBERALS should exist. None. Liberals only exist because of one thing: ‘FEAR of Failure.’ Posted by: Jeff MacMillan at March 30, 2004 05:38 PM i’m guessing that jeff macmillan is a white male between the ages of 25 and 65. here’s a hint for you, jeff: the job market and opportunities for entrepreneurship are very different if you aren’t in that demographic. Posted by: x at March 30, 2004 06:16 PM x, I’m guessing that you’ve got an advanced degree from a university and still live with your Mom. Posted by: TL at March 30, 2004 08:25 PM x on February 14, 2004 10:44 PM leaddog, i’m a proud dem, and i guarantee you that i make more money than you do— and it’s all earned. makes you wonder now if x is a white male 25-65… or if x’s earnings are the result of hard work Posted by: wafflestomper at March 30, 2004 09:42 PM both the demographic and hard work, as a matter of fact. tl: you couldn’t afford to live in my place. your lifelong earnings might, just might, pay the down payment. Posted by: x at March 30, 2004 11:09 PM Posted by x at March 30, 2004 06:16 PM ROFLMAO! Clueless. Here is a hint for you ‘x’: A WASP/male (with or without the P!) is probably afforded the least amount of “opportunities”!!! If you take a researched and well written business plan, complete with projected cash flows, etc. and give identical copies to two different people: one female/minority, one male/Caucasian ; and then send them out to secure funding which one do you think will get it?! The female/minority will likely get grants or at the very least, low-interest loans. The male/Caucasian, IF his presentation and personal credit history are impeccable, may get a high interest commercial loan if he knows the loan officer at the bank. Substitute male/minority for the former and basically the same results, except his would probably be all low-interest loans. Take just female, drop the minority. Same thing. Thank goodness for the Good ol’ Boys Club, it is our version of Affirmative Action. Posted by x at March 30, 2004 11:09 PM Yeah TL, given the comments from this genius I feel certain that his Real Estate prowess closely follows suit. Someone must have made him a “great deal” on that little property at 301 Park Avenue because they were hard up for cash. Funny how he just hasn’t been able to take possession yet. Posted by: TrollPatrol at March 31, 2004 09:38 AM x, so you’re saying your mom has a really nice house? Posted by: TL at March 31, 2004 10:12 AM X is a racist, why doesn’t that suprize me? Now he’s telling us he lives in a manson, and loves high taxes? I smell something…. Posted by: Fat Guy at April 2, 2004 11:52 AM Let me get this straight. First it was “Teacher, George Bush and his friends are going to be mean to me” now its “Well, you live in a bunker, and your momma too”. Thats a real sound and mature media strategy Kerry’s got there. Posted by: kh at April 2, 2004 01:21 PM “If you believe some measure of taxation is inevitable and the strongest shoulders should carry the heaviest load, Kerry is” (your man.) VoR - Sounds like a great idea. How about a flat tax where everyone pays the same rate? That way really rich people will pay more than anyone else. As opposed to the way it is now, where rich people pay for everything, while rich democrats incite the bottom 50% of households to vote for more taxes on the top 50% of households. The politics of envy…….it still sucks.
