2004 US Presidential Election
March 24, 2004
| Dick Morris On The Ides Of March
The moment of political victory or defeat most often passes unnoticed by journalists and the insiders of the respective political campaigns. Why? According to Morris, many reasons … focusing on fundraising … taking time to ski … attack ads … all of which contributed to losing the momentum while the Bush campaign moved to Campaign Defcon Level 5. Don’t listen to me, though … we post ‘em here so you can see for yourself. Judge Morris as you will. Posted by Alan at March 24, 2004 08:35 AM | TrackBack Comments
I’d feel better if Morris wasnt habitually 100% wrong in his predictions. Posted by: mark buehner at March 24, 2004 09:01 AM And a former advisor to former Pres. Clinton… Posted by: Dark Jethro at March 24, 2004 10:48 AM Aww M. Buehner, cant Dick Morris come out to play? He promises to be a nice attack doggy? You dont mean that all of the nice Dhimmicrat attack doggies dont want to play with the Morris Monster of C-lit-on? Who says we listen to predictions on november elections in march and bet the farm animals and the tractor to boot? Thats not fair! Its not, its not, its not! Posted by: Sunami at March 24, 2004 11:14 AM Unconvincing. Space-filler. It’s March. The Democrats will make their big move the weekend before the election. Drunk driving worked last time, but not well enough. “Bush planning illegitimate child with Condi Rice.” “Cheney fighting pain with marijuana.” Heroic actions for Democrats, vote-busters for a Republican who only has three last-minute media outlets at his disposal: WSJ, Wash Times, Fox News. Posted by: nedt at March 24, 2004 11:28 AM Excuse me? Morris 100% wrong? Are we observing two different alternative realities or something? Posted by: eric at March 24, 2004 11:29 AM I consider Morris somewhat of an expert on these matters. And I believe he’s right on this one. Where has Kerry been, anyhow. This was a pretty explosive week in world news. Posted by: michele at March 24, 2004 12:36 PM “Excuse me? Morris 100% wrong? Are we observing two different alternative realities or something?” Go look at his predictions on the last few elections. I believe he had the democrats winning back the house in 02 as late as the week of the elections. Posted by: mark buehner at March 24, 2004 01:01 PM nedt, My prediction what the dems will toss at W in October, “Bush Knew” They tried it out Summer of 2002 and it went nowhere, but that was just beta. And their proof Bush knew. “Because we say so.” Posted by: jones at March 24, 2004 01:24 PM “Where has Kerry been, anyhow. This was a pretty explosive week in world news.” In Church, wearing a Ski Outfit and Jock Strap, Swearing at his Secret Service Agent, calling to thank his latest Foreign Leader Endorsements, watching Richard Clark testify on his handheld T.V. Posted by: Jeff MacMillan at March 24, 2004 03:25 PM I don’t know whether his predictions are true, but he did say one thing that’s dead on the money: Kerry’s attacks on Bush matter little. Voters have spent four years studying the Republican president, and no new information is likely to sway them one way or the other. For better or worse, Bush is defined and only earth-shaking developments are going to change his image. Yup. Posted by: johnnymozart at March 24, 2004 05:11 PM I think the Kerry camp knew that the Dick Clarke situation was going to get red hot (60 minutes, 9-11 comm., book promotion) and wanted to appear to be above it and return with his “calm” interpretation. Watch, he will see how this is playing out and take full advantage of it. I think it sucks but very clever. No better time to be away. Posted by: Mark at March 24, 2004 09:43 PM ” Bush is defined and only earth-shaking developments are going to change his image.” Bush’s GWOT credentials are his major draw, which is why recent disclosures and ensuing bunfight are such big news. Now the bananas are flying, who will end up with egg on their face? Ashcroft and Tenet: get networking now, and never mind the bruises from the pike-ranks of bargepoles! Posted by: banana und drang at March 25, 2004 06:42 AM banana, Unless the buns are stale, bunfights are usually kinda fun, aren’t they? Posted by: torpedo_eight at March 25, 2004 08:17 AM You’re right. Fair point. That’ll teach me to skip breakfast. (Finally, I agree with torpedo_eight!). On a matter of such gravity, levity is inappropriate. Posted by: banana der Stoßspannungsgenerator, very very frightening me at March 25, 2004 12:23 PM But, Kerry will have this to “calmly deal with” as well: WASHINGTON — Earlier this month, Democratic Presidential candidate, Sen. John Kerry proclaimed foreign leaders were pushing for him to win the election over President George W. Bush. “It’s official,” said taxpayer advocate Grover Norquist., president of Americans for Tax Reform (ATR). “Europe is actively participating in the U.S. election and is collaborating with the Kerry campaign. ATR calls on Kerry to stop this collaboration now and remove the tariffs being placed on U.S. companies and workers.” The Foreign Sales Corporations (FSCs) and the extraterritorial income exclusion (ETI) export subsidies were found to be in violation of World Trade Organization (WTO) agreements due to a suit brought by the EU. As of March 1st the EU started to impose tariffs on U.S. made products in key presidential swing states with additional tariffs being levied at the beginning of each month absent changes to the tax law. President Bush and Congress have put forward a plan to remedy the situation and bring the U.S. tax code into compliance with the WTO ruling. Yesterday, the Senate Democrats, in near unison, filibustered the remedy to ensure the tariffs stay in place. The Democrats collaboration with the EU, says the group, is making U.S. companies less competitive, inflicting jobs losses here in America, and undermining overall economic growth. “Coordinating political maneuvers to inflict job losses in swing states is economic treason,” continued Norquist. “If Euro-socialists don’t want Bush to be President of the United States, bully for them. But for a challenger to look to Europe to inflict pain in the United States is taking Machiavellian power plays to a level never before seen in American politics.” Americans for Tax Reform is a non-partisan coalition of taxpayers and taxpayer groups who oppose all federal and state tax increases. If all this is true, kerry belongs in prison, not the white house. Posted by: Fat Guy at March 26, 2004 03:26 AM And so do alot of Democrat senators who are in on this deal. This is economic blackmail to the people in these states. Why do people have to suffer and be forced to vote Kerry to have tarrif removed because of political greed for power. Posted by: Fat Guy at March 26, 2004 03:41 AM This MUST BE told throughout America. The Kerry biased Media will not do that. Posted by: leaddog2 at March 26, 2004 09:39 AM Fat Guy, can you provide a link to this article? Thanks. Posted by: Jobber at March 26, 2004 10:25 AM Link: haven’t had time to google for more, but they must be out there. Posted by: Fat Guy at March 26, 2004 02:59 PM And so do alot of Democrat senators who are in on this deal. I think a Inquisition is in order, and it should be launched immediately. You mean linched, not launched, right? Posted by: v at March 26, 2004 04:11 PM Drats, lynched, lynched! Sorry, english is not my first language… Posted by: v at March 26, 2004 04:47 PM Michele said “Where has Kerry been, anyhow. This was a pretty explosive week in world news. Waiting for the hearings to end. Notice he returned to Washington the next day. Wouldn’t you say that the momentum has shifted a bit. Why would Morris judge the month a week before it ended? Posted by: Anthony at March 27, 2004 11:31 PM If we wait long enough, maybe Kerry will have a secret meeting with Clarke and other treasonous Democrats; and talk about assassinating some Senators again!!! Last time he just wasn’t serious enough….so says CBS and the NY Times… Posted by: DickD at March 29, 2004 02:28 AM “with Clarke and other treasonous Democrats” The Rove White House spin machine is now officially out of control. No wonder gyro-hipped Hughes is back on the payroll. Richard Clarke is [was?] a life-long Republican, brought into office by Ronald Reagan. The sight of Republicans eating one of their own certainly isn’t pretty. When poor old Paul O’Neil pointed out many of the same facts, he was simply dismissed as an eccentric. When the chairman of the joint chiefs of staff pointed out essentially the same thing, he was ignored by the media and has now gone surprisingly mute, unlike Dr. Rice who can only speak on camera. When GWB admitted to Bob Woodward he didn’t put much urgency to terrorisim prior to 911 it was interpreted as another sign of leadership. Unfortunately, for Clarke his tenure dates back some 4 presidents, most Republican. Thus, he has to be tarnished via any means available. I’m surprised video tapes showing him picking his nose while on duty have yet be given to the media. I note good old Robert Novack is back pedaling inside dirt on another who dares to question. He seems to transmit more crude than the Haliburton-repaired Iraqi pipelines. Certainly it will all be needed before Clarke’s nose is bloodied and the grand inquisition started. Of course after the passion, more than just his nose will need to be bloodied to draw much attention among the viewing public these days. How about a good old fashioned burning at the stake? It could be done with natural gas and MTBE so that the Roverians can simultaneously tout their equally progressive environmental record. Now the Roverians are calling for an inquisition. Progress is certainly being made, they are asking we return to the 15th century. The folks at NASA and other neo-Galileoans better be on guard. More than their Hubble may be cut. One would think that adopting O’Sama’s politics would seem to be counter productive, but this WH is known for its “innovation” in matters of spin. You only have to look at how many different explanations have been offered as to why we went into Iraq, and most after the fact. When the facts are not on your side “spin”. 6600 rpm and counting. Go George/Karl/Dick go! Posted by: S. G. Poss at March 29, 2004 11:48 AM Bush is nothing but a puppet. Why has Cheney through Halliburton making so much money off of this war of choice?! The neocons lied. I never saw any roses in their march to Baghdad. Where are the WMD? Why did Woodward say Cheney has a fever to go to war and then never served. Perle said enjoy the victory. Where is that victory with over 840 Americans dead military and civilian. Halliburton has lost over 33 people. Were their tax cuts and excessive salaries for working there worth it. Why don’t they let CEO Cheney fight. But I guess he has better things to do. I guess Cheney could recommend his daughter Mary to fight. Oh I forgot she is still in the closet and will not support her gay brothers and sisters in their right to marry. I wonder how her lesbian lover feels about that. Well maybe Bush’s two daughters will take time to fight or be nurses, but maybe that will intervene with their cocaine and liquor parties. But daddy sure knows about that problem. Oh well when Kerry has a landslide victory, former president Bush will have lots of time to go back to his old ways. Long live the Democrats and freedom. Remember discent is patriotic and remember McCarthy was a republican. Wonder if Minister Ashcroft will find a pulpit to preach from. I recommend his ask Falwell the hate-monger. Maybe alzheimer Reagan can give some advise. Posted by: John Moszyk at May 28, 2004 08:09 PM Post a comment
