Kerry | Quotes from Kerry's speech

[Cross-posted at BrendanLoy.com]

“Thank you to voters from coast to coast who have truly made this a Super Tuesday.”

“A remarkably gracious… powerful statement by John Edwards tonight. There is no question that John Edwards bring a compelling voice to our party, great eloquence to the cause of working men and women all across our nation, and great promise for leadership in the years to come, and we thank him for what he has done over the course of this race.”

“In 2004, one united Democratic party, we can and we will win this election — and we will build one America.” (emphasis added)

Edwards a rival in recent months, but first and foremost, a friend. “He is a valiant champion of the values for which our party stands.”

Now praising and thanking Dean for bringing people into the process.

“Tonight the message could not be clearer, all across our country: change is coming to America.”

“I know that together, we are equal to this task. I am a fighter.” Blah blah, “battlefield” allusions. Did you know he served in Vietnam?

“In 2004, I pledge we will tell the truth about what has happened in our country, and we will fight to give America back its future and its hope.” Good line.

“The Bush Administration has run the most inept, arrogant, and ideological foreign policy in the history of our country, and we will reverse that course.” (I think I missed one adjective.)

“Bring it on! Bring it on! Bring it on!”

“George Bush, who promised to be a uniter, has become a great divider. Just last week, he proposed to amend the Constitution of the United States for political purpose. We say that he has no right to misuse the most precious document in our history to divide this nation and distract us from our goals. We resoundingly reject the politics of fear and distortion. We will instead, all across this nation throughout these next months, keep trust with Lincoln’s ideals of America as the last, best hope on Earth.”

Today, like in Vietnam era, “Americans are once again wondering if they can trust and believe the leadership of this country. Our campaign is about restoring that belief, and speaking honestly and straightforwardly to the American people … [and] building an America that is again a great light to all the world.”

“In 2004, I pledge we will tell the truth about what has happened in our country, and we will fight to give America back its future and its hope.”

Well its 2004… what are you waiting for?

Posted by: Cranial at March 3, 2004 03:18 AM

Regarding what DickD said, comes from the RNC style ‘non-thinkers’ just ‘followers’ task force.

Democrats honor the soldiers and the families that were ruthlessly ordered to leave and/or linger. I do not believe that the loss of one life, one injury, is insignificant.

What I’m ashamed of is not the soldiers, but of an administration which leads to war, and then also (even worse) one who probably himself, and the other fat-cats in the bush with him…have profited from and stand to profit further from through contracts (without bids even) awarded….

An administration that doesn’t know how to count the cost or the debt and is totally non-repentant for deceiving the Congress and the American people.

Where was Bush on 9-10? There are many questions to be asked, and answered by our president. Will the answers bring honor to our nation or to him and his crew?

Will he take the fifth? Well, I don’t know about that.
I’m from Texas, and I know he doesn’t do answers well or at all when he’s being challenged. He just waves toward the cameras as if there were those beyond it watching.

His usual reaction to questions of those intelligent enough to ask the right questions? He has them bodily carried out. Oh, forgot, there is his most typical response, “I’m not even going to dignify that with an answer” And truly he doesn’t either dignify himself or the Congress, or the people, but for sure like he said in his televised interview, “I won’t change”.

And he doesn’t. He left us in a mess. Hey, he’s a real charmer. If elected again, Republicans, it won’t get better; it will get worse. Karen, the one he calls ‘his prophet’ is still active no doubt. Karl is out with his cuttery. And the new, now public, spokesman, is like a recorded record. Where’s Bush, well he doesn’t do well with anything but a laugh-off (some joke huh?) ..spriding down his chopper (always waving into the distance, or fenced off, or broadcast after a delay)

No truth is allowed out of ‘his’ WH...all information is previewed and produced using 9-11, naval ships, soldiers, and children to grandize him by association I would suppose.

No one who says ‘liberals’ as if it is a dirty word, has been not been taught even the spectrum. There is a range….that I think goes sorte of like this: Communist…extreme left-wing,..liberal…Democrat…moderate…right-wing, conservative, Republican, Fasicism (excuse the spelling if it’s wrong..I’m not much acquainted with such/Nazi-style dictatorship. If my memory of history serves me, I think Hitler did ‘his’ problem, reaction, solution of premptive strikes and killing of innocents too. The buck stops at the desk of the Commander-in-Chief. Our soldiers are trained to take orders, but even so not all approve of the war, who serve honorably. Each one who has died in one of our campaigns is the reason why we need a new administration.

Would it were like days of old when rulers headed the attack, and fought along side their armies, there would be far fewer wars…me thinks. It is the soldiers that are in harms way. There have been so many deceptions, and stipulations, it is clear whose hide he plans to protect (even from remorse or inconvenience).

God forgive him for he doesn’t know? what he has done. He spouts that he is a Methodist, but fails to add that not only his ‘claimed’ church pleaded with him to repent of a pre-emptive strike, but many other denomination heads did as well. Again, like he said just recently he won’t change the direction he’s going or the direction he is taking this country.

If you love our country, our Constitution, the soldiers commissioned for our nation’s defense, and common good for all mankind, the salvaging of our good name…..know that we can’t get there by following the destructive course this adm has set for the United States (that’s us).

No doubt some Veteran’s are not for peace, but many who are among the truest heroes know that no metal can blot out the horrors of war, and make silent the killing fields. Nor do those who do dark things often like to bring them out into the light.

Regarding Norma’s remarks, this military is an all-volunteer military, a professional one. Nobody was forced to leave their homes. They signed on and knew that some day, war would come, and thus went to combat when called to duty (with the exception of the Marine who, when called for duty in Afghanistan in 2001, said “I joined [the Corps] to meet people and learn new things.”)

Would you suggest that we are actually drafting people and making them go fight in a country whose majority now says they are indeed better off without Saddam Hussein? Would you say that the capture of the Ace of Spades had nothing to do with Mu’amar Qaddafi’s decision to halt Libya’s quest for WMD?

Furthermore, fascism as a originated in Italy thanks to disheartened socialist Benito Mussolini and company. The White House is HIS house, much the same way your house is even though you still pay a mortgage to the bank (who technically owns that much of your house as you still owe monetarily).

There is no doubt that a medal can “blout out the horrors of war, and make silent the killing fields.” (Great quote, where’d you get it? Seems a little inconsistent with your writing style.)

Where was Bush on 9-10? In the Oval Office going about the affairs of the country to the best of his ability as a fledgling President. You can’t blame a man who’s been in office for less than nine months for that incident. If you are going to blame anyone, blame the Presidents of the past 25 years and certain congressmen and senators (which include JFK) who voted to slash the intelligence budget and force the community to invest in spy satellites rather than spy satellites, communications tapping abilities, communications interruption, signals intelligence, electronic intelligence, and human intelligence. Satellites are great for counting tanks in a Soviet tank laeger, but absolutely useless for tracking people unless you have eyes on the ground with weapons in their hands. Vote for someone who’s giving the intelligence community a start at the chance they need to catch the bad guys and prevent another catastrophe like 9/11 or the Madrid bombings. (There’s a great example of terrorists capitulating a government.)

I could go on forever, but you’ve probably stopped reading by now. Cheerio!

FOR PEACE JOHN KERRY PRESIDENT

Mr. President Buch

Yes I am afraid
fear of the future for my children
fear for my little children
the world cries, THAT OF HATRED!
in Palestine it is chaos
in Iraq the every day of young soldiers dies for which cause?
believe that the people of IRAQ are happier?
The world is very small now, only the union of the people will be able to overcome international terrorism I have a deep attachment for your country, and your function , but each one of your errors to a world repercussion
the error and human, but it to continue and a fault.
Sadam Hussein, a dictator yes, but while lying on the reasons of war you have removed prestige with the greatest nation of the world one needs a man able to rebuild peace, and to give again a size with your nation,

JOHN KERRY is this man
