| USC debate highlights

As mentioned here earlier, I flew out to L.A. and blogged live from USC during last week’s Democratic presidential debate. Here are some photo and audio highlights…

Audioblogging the campaigners: Listening in on Dean, Edwards, Kucinich, and Kerry supporters — and an interview with independent candidate “Chris P. Carrot.” (1:31, 713 KB)

The Deaniacs chant: “Annoy the media! Vote for Dean!” (8 sec., 88 KB)

Kerry’s supporters chant: “Whose house? Our house! What house? The White House! John… Kerry! President… Kerry!”

The Edwards people answer. “L.A. loves Edwards! L.A. loves Edwards!”

Kucinich, of course, had the funkiest supporters.

Break-dancing for Kucinich.

Howard Dean and the youth vote. Crazy kids!

Presidential vegetables: Chris P. Carrot and his runningmate, Colonel Corn.

A woman dressed as a “John Kerry Flip-Flop.”

A puppeteer on stilts, identified as the “corporate media,” controls his puppets, Kerry and Edwards, whose answers to every question were either “six of one” or “half a dozen of the other.” (sound clip - 58 sec., 636 KB)

John Edwards gives his supporters the thumbs-up after the debate.

Edwards speaks to the crowd while his wife looks on.

As you post your comment, please mind our simple comment policy: we welcome all perspectives, but require that comments be both civil and respectful. We also ask that you avoid the extensive use of profanity, racist terms (neither of which we consider civil or respectful), and other boorish language.
