The issue of judicial appointments is going to be a key issue in the upcoming elections, and the recess appointment yesterday of now former Alabama AG William Pryor to the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals kicks the debate up a notch.

Actually, the issue is the Democrat’s obstruction of President Bush’s judicial nominees. This article states that in the 2002 elections the Democrats were hurt by a perception that they had blocked homeland security and prescription drugs. The Democrat’s obstruction of President Bush’s judicial nominations plays into this perception from the 2002 election. The recess appointments ensures that the obstruction issue stays alive.
