Dean | Dean Loses AFSCME Endorsement
CNN reports that Dean lost the backing of a major labor union Saturday when the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees withdrew its endorsement. AFSCME endorsed Dean in November, citing his record as Vermont governor, his position on the issues and the strength of his campaign. Union leader Gerald McEntee told Dean in a meeting Saturday in Burlington, Vermont, that his union was withdrawing its support. Cross-posted from California Yankee. Now the rats leave the sinking ship. I’ve seen Gore scurrying about the poop, trying to time his jump. Radical nutball screaming was fine for internal consumption (it rallied the troops!!), but if you’re going to win national elections, you’re going to need featureless Bay Staters whose lack of activity in the Senate presents voters with a ‘clean slate’ and no way to oppose same, given no one clearly understands what he’s ever stood for (save self-promotion). Can’t wait to hear Kerry inveigh against the evil rich and their ‘special’ interests. Ignore for the moment at all interests are special to those who value them and Kerry couldn’t qualify for middle-class if they took 650 of Theresa’s millions away from them. Clear the decks for some really entertaining double-plus good duck speak. Posted by: torpedo_eight at February 8, 2004 10:24 AM With Dean gone, it seems like the election won’t really be Kerry vs Bush. Those two will simply stand in for the real choices, the basic question: do you feel you are part of a strong, moral, and unapologetic America or a heart-felt, consensus-building, Stuart Smalley America? Are you proud of being an American or ashamed? I’ve got to vote for W, reward the illegals, expand the government, and be happy about it. Posted by: Mason at February 8, 2004 12:27 PM Post a comment
