| Kerry on 60 Minutes: Transcript

Well, part of the transcript. The whole thing is here; you can see the interview tonight at 7pm (EST).

An excerpt:

“I believe this president breached faith with the lesson that I just expressed to you that we learned in Vietnam. You truly should go to war as a matter of last resort. I’m afraid this president rushed to war without a plan to win the peace.”

But this was the war that the senator voted for.

“No,” replies Kerry. “I think a better way to phrase that is: I voted for a process by which war would be the last resort. And those are the conditions which the president himself established. He said, ‘I will build a coalition. We’re going to use the United Nations, we will inspect, and I will go to war as a last resort.’ He did not do anything three of those things. So yes, I believe we should have stood up to Saddam Hussein, I thought it was important for our nation’s security. There was a right way to do it, and there was a wrong way to do it. The president chose the wrong way.”

I think anyone with less than poop in their skull can realize that he meant a REAL coalition ala ‘91.

Lemme make sure I understand this:

REAL coalition == “Includes France”. Is that the way it works?

I personally find it kind of funny how all the hawks on this blog laugh at French military capabilities.

Considering France is a nuclear power with about 500 warheads in stock when you compare that to Iraq and all the sky is falling shit I hear about Iraq it becomes comical.

So lemme get this straight…u dont fear france but you pee yourselves with the idea that Iraq has a couple rusted chemical shells lying around?

I think you missed the point of that comment, What. If I read CERDIP correctly, he was merely stating that Kerry’s idea of a “coalition” is anything involving France. In other words, Bush did have a coalition. Just not according to Kerry’s standards. It wasn’t a knock on France’s capabilities at all.

CERDIP, if I’m wrong, please correct me.

michele, If I misinterpreted…I sincerely apologize.

I just wanted to make the simple point that 500 nuclear warheads is not quite what I would call an inferior defense program.

Actually for most countries one warhead is all it takes.

I really get PISSED off when liberal, no-nothings, accuse us conservatives of ‘FEAR.’ You guys parade around with no-war signs and harmony and peace and do absolutely nothing but count the dots on the ceiling signs… and accuse US of ‘fear?’

Some of us that post here (not myself, sadly) have went to war! A lot of conservatives that supported this war have GONE to war themselves.

No. The biggest motivating factor was that FRANCE is not a dictatorship with decades of atrocities and dozens of dead body burial grounds.

Iraq IS! We were there to bring Freedom to the Iraqi people!

But then again. Who cares right? We are supposed to be selfish, government lovers, who want to have our money marched off to the government in order to pay for our unwanted universal crap insurance.

You can take your universal crap insurance and shove it. Shove that along with your ‘We shouldn’t fight this war on Terrorism’ FEAR.

Here’s some other stuff you might consider doing. You might consider BURNING all of the EBT Cards, dismantling the Department of Education, dismantling the EPA, tear down the Welfare System and toss into the garbage where it came from, launch the campaign finance reform legislation into the nearest outhouse….. DUCK-TAPE all of the whiny, cry-baby, annoying idiots screaming about ‘ficticious problems’ with electronic voting booths, and export all of the enviro-wack jobs screaming about the ‘Ficticious’ Global Disaster Crap (Global Warming, Global Cooling, Global Dimming, Global Moving-Too-Fast, Global Moving-too-Slow), to the nearest moon on Jupiter. Or heck. Send em them all to Mars.

Want to know the effects of a REAL Coallition?
“The total cost of military operations for the 1991 Gulf War was $76 billion. Of this, $67 Billion was “covered” either by in-kind contributions (fuel, etc.) or direct cash payments to the U.S. by other countries.”
