2004 US Presidential Election
January 19, 2004
| Edwards / Dean Simulblog
Via CNN TV: Edwards on Gephardt: "A man I have so much personal respect and affection for ... he deserves to be lifted up by us tonight ... for all the work ... he's done for people who deserve a champion." Frankly, he looks and sounds like he's giving a victory speech. Dean: "If you had told us one year ago that we were going to come in third in Iowa ... we would have given anything for that." "We will take back the White House," "we will not quit ... ever ... we want our country back for ordinary Americans." "We're going to win in Mass. and NC and Missouri and Ark., and Conn. and NY and Ohio." "We haven't seen this in 30 years." I presume he means since Carter. "This is the changing of the generations ... the passing of the torch to a new generation." Posted by Alan at January 19, 2004 10:39 PM | TrackBack Comments
Looks more like he’s grabbing for Gephardt’s supporters than anything else. Posted by: JLawson at January 19, 2004 10:42 PM My impression of Dean (and for that matter, Clark) has always been that, as an unknown quantity, he was the perfect vessel into which people could project their fantasy candidate. Its kind of like that gorgeous girl (or guy) across the bar…she’s perfect until she opens her mouth Posted by: Jeff at January 19, 2004 10:49 PM Wasn’t Dean the “organized” candidate? His internet-based “organization” was supposed to revolutionize the campaign and sweep him into office? And isn’t the Iowa Caucus process all about who has the best “organization?” So now what’s his excuse going to be? Heh. Posted by: david at January 19, 2004 10:53 PM Edwards is pulling a Clinton, claiming victory while coming in second…a clever move. Dean has a tin ear and no one around him who speaks the truth…that had to be the worst speech since Dan Quayle. Posted by: feste at January 19, 2004 10:55 PM One of the reports mentioned that Republicans can vote in the New Hamshire Democratic Primary, because Bush is running unopposed. If this is true, if Republicans can indeed vote in the Dem. primary, without causing problems for them voting for Bush in November, then REPUBLICANS SHOULD VOTE FOR HOWARD DEAN IN THE N.H. PRIMARY. Posted by: CounterAct at January 20, 2004 12:35 AM Kerry also has Dewet Canyon III and tossing someone else’s medals at Nixon. Can you see McCain at the convention recalling how the NVA taunted him with Kerry’s words? I am all for Dean, but not freaking out, yet.
