Moseley-Braun | Moseley Braun to Quit Presidential Race; Will Endorse Dean
Breaking, from FOXNews: Former Illinois Sen. Carol Moseley Braun is ending her historic presidential bid, Fox News has confirmed. Sources have told Fox News she intends to endorse former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean.A shame ... she added a certain calming quality to the entire thing. Posted by Alan at January 15, 2004 12:22 AM | TrackBack Comments
watching her on The Daily Show this evening, she was very impressive— very jovial, very friendly, outgoing… like jon stewart said, “why do all the fringe candidates make the most sense?” Posted by: x at January 15, 2004 01:00 AM I think one of the issues is that the media, from the outset, cast her as a fringe candidate. My wife said the same thing the other night … “she seem’s great” … my response was “Why don’t you support her?” The reason: We never thought she was legitimate … but why? Who told us so? The fact is that she was no less legitimate than Dean was six months ago. Perhaps if she had started a blog … Posted by: Alan at January 15, 2004 08:41 AM Carol who? Posted by: johnnymozart at January 15, 2004 09:02 AM Well, for one thing, she’s knee deep in scandal. Most media didn’t bother talking about it, because it’d be like them reporting on my scandals. Neither one of us is going to be president. Posted by: samuelv at January 15, 2004 09:16 AM The suspicion that she was recruited by Democratic wheelers-and-dealers to prevent Sharpton from emerging as “the black candidate” is hardly helped by her bailing just before the first caucus. She stayed in just long enough to diffuse any enthusiasm for Sharpton which might have emerged (unlikely but possible), but not long enough to take any votes from the “real” candidates. Posted by: tagryn at January 15, 2004 10:18 AM there’s no way that she was recruited to “diffuse” Sharpton — he does a fantastic job of alienating himself from voters. Posted by: x at January 15, 2004 10:46 AM gasp, gasp, gasp wow, x and I agree….. (shudder) Posted by: johnnymozart at January 15, 2004 11:11 AM >> gasp, gasp, gasp wow, x and I agree….. (shudder)<< A sign of the impending apocalypse, indeed. Posted by: Alan at January 15, 2004 09:19 PM Post a comment
