Bush | Celebs Bash Bush

I know ... I know ... the headline reads like "dog bites man." Nonetheless, the event was Moveon.org’s award for the best 30-second political ad criticizing the president. And the stars were out in force:

Of course, Bush wasn’t the only target for criticism. The entire administration, corporate media outfits and conservative radio and TV personalities like Fox News’ Bill O'Reilly came under fire as well. One example: Moby told Newsweek that Vice President Dick Cheney looked like a “Troglodyte,” speculating that it’s hard to hate President Bush because he probably doesn’t even run the show. (According to Moby, advisors like Cheney do that.)

Singer-songwriter Wainwright performed a tune he said he had written when he was 17 called Liberty Cabbage--the name American soldiers gave to sauerkraut while fighting the Germans during World War I.) “Sometimes I think you’re trying to kill me with your stars and stripes,” he crooned. Between songs, the upstate New York native who lived for a time in Canada noted he was opposed to many of the administration’s policies, including “tax cuts and whatever.”

Read the rest at Newsweek, and read MoveOn's take here.
